Pool in Hawaii?

I'll be in Honolulu for a week next month. Are there any good weekly tournaments on 9 foot tables? I guess I'd even play on bar boxes if I have to.

If nothing else, I'll at least hit Hawaiian Brian's a few times. I'm planning on bringing my cue.

Cheap sets with other AZ'ers is OK too.

When you are here, stop in Skindeep Tattoo in Waikiki on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday evening and I'll give you the skinny. Aloha

Isn't this question one of the signs you have an addiction? :D
Going on vacation and asking where to play pool.

I thought playing pool is what you are supposed to do on vacation. Is there anything else to do in a place like Hawaii?

Do I need an intervention?

Vacation

Isn't playing pool a sort of vacation for the soul anyway?? Where better to play than here in the land of vacations. It does sound like an addiction. Who says addictions are bad.
After the pool if you want to do and see other things, we can help.

I was on the Big Island for a couple of weeks last year and played a couple of times!!!!!!

Russ.....

All is good here. "Cuebuilder" has been a great help in Hawaii (thanks for a great dinner at a great place, Dave.) I've been to Hawaiian Brian's 3 times, and will play in the open tournament tomorrow night. I talked to Aki on the phone once, but he doesn't own the place any more.

Today I was at Volcano National Park on the big island (no pool, but a must see for anyone.)

I'm not looking forward to going back home.

I wouldn't bother to bring my cue. I was in Honolulu a month ago, and in case you didn't see my post, this is what I wrote home about:

I'm back from Hawaii...
So thanks to all your recommendations of Hawaiian Brian's, I naturally decided to check it out... and man, was I in for a sad surprise!

I don't know how to put this gently, but compared to what I'm used to (back in Scandinavia and here in Northern California) the Brian's place sucks, big time. The entire place is dirty, including floors, tables and balls -- several times I had to go to the bathroom to wash my hand(s) as my bridge hand got sticky & blue by the dirty table-cloth. The balls were trowing big time since they had probably never been washed, the rails were broke/inconstant, and the table that supposedly had the tightest pockets (table #39) felt like buckets compared to the pockets we play at Shoreline Billiards here in Bay Area... and Brian's doesn't even serve any beer!!!

Well, if any of you Hawaiians are coming to Northern California, check out Shoreline Billiards (especially table #4) and you'll be in for a nice surprise.

I wasn't impressed with Brians either.

You might find some small table action at the dawg house in the international market place. There was also some country bar right behind it (across the street behind the market place) that had a free bar box tourny 1-2 nights a week. This info is a couple of years old, so neither may exist any more.

I knew u was going to be out of town but u never said u was going to paradise good luck in the open tournament its still slow here in the sticks u going to be back in town by Friday bowman is playing Shane Van Boening in desmoines at 7 Mark and I are goin up

Hey I tought you supposed to be in Bali by now? :)

I still intend on getting to Bali. I couldn't make it in April because of business. I will be at the WPC in Manila in November. Will you be there?

JimS & gotgame, I'll be back on Thursday. Good thing there's no more wind. I'm stayin home on Friday, but I'm sure the game between SVB and JJB will be good. Hope to see you both soon.

I made it back this morning, but my luggage didn't. My ivory Southwest is in there somewhere (or it was when I checked it in Honolulu.) United says the last time it scanned was in L.A. at 11:30 last night. I'm starting to sweat a little.

Dave, thanks again for everything. I'll see you again next year. And hopefully I'll still have that cue.

WOW, I sure hope your luggage shows up!! I hope we didn't moke you by talking about this kind of stuff the other day.
It was a real pleasure meeting you and your mother. Peggy really enjoyed her.
We may try to go to Manilla for the world. If we do, maybe we can sit and talk some cue then. If we don't make it there will always be "Next Year" Shoot well and get that cue back.
