pool lessons

Who is the best person to take lessons from in the nj,ny area?
Can you fill us in on the sorts of things you would like to learn? How well do you play now? How much time can you put in to practice? How well do you want to play? Which games?

If you're a beginner, you will need to work on your fundamentals. Some instructors who are excellent at strategy and advanced stuff, have neither the tools nor the patience to help you make your arm move straight. If you are in the beginner category -- say up to APA 5 -- be sure your instructor has the equipment to do video analysis of your mechanics.

Check out the BCA web site and get a BCA Certified instructor. I'm sure there are a number of them in your area.

How bout Todd Fleitman? :o Maybe you can become a favored player...

Eric >just a lil Tri State haha

i suggest GRADY MATTHEWS - the professor is a world champion and is one of the most literate poolplayers - perhaps he could help you with your posts

I'm not gonna say that Lee Brett doesn't have some valuable advice and he may even be a great teacher. But don't leave the poolroom with him. That's how I feel. I'm not gonna say anymore about him and I'll even go so far as to say if his lessons are reasonably priced give him a try for a couple hours but he's no someone I'd even trust with my address much less a key to my house or car. I've done alot of thinking since my earlier posts about him. All of what I said in those are true BUT I DONT THINK I WAS FAIR about his ability to teach. I don't know anything about that from personal experience so I'll take the word of the many posters on here that've had good experiences with that part of LB. Also for the record I know someone who trusted him with his house and car for a month or so(my timeline could be way off)he can give 500 reasons and examples why not to do this.

I completely agree with Bob Jewetts statement. Many pros tell you how to make a shot and get position on the next ball. But, it is important to be able to repeat that shot over and over again.
If you want to work on the basics Scott Lee will help you there. He just left NJ yesterday. He is going to try to get back and do another pool school in January. It will be at the Sand Castle on route 1 in Edison. This is about 45 minutes out of NYC by car.
This is a great program.
