I think Gary, the photographer, would appreciate feedback from experienced pool photographers. I don't know much about his equipment other than it was about a foot long lens worth about 5k and the camera is worth 2 or 3k.

A pic of Mark Robertson (Neil's brother) playing attached.

For those interested in the event, it has been run for 14 years in my hometown, started by a couple of my best mates, one who passed away about 7 years ago.

It is one of the top 5 premium open events in Australia, where we play English 8 Ball mainly. This event attracts about 280 entries. On Friday night about 128 players compete in a $10 entry event and 16 play for a $200 entry event.

On Saturday 10 players to a table play a single frame round robin, top 5 go through to the last 128. A Calcutta is done for the last 128.

On Sunday, the non-qualifiers and 1st round losers enter a blonks comp for $10 entry, with 64 entries.

There is also usually a challenge match for 1k or more on Saturday night. It's like a mini-Derby City for Oz.

About 7 hours were live streamed with commentary:

table in the posted pic looks small, no?

And pockets big too? For a snooker table anyway...

They are 7' x 3'6" standard English Pool tables with pockets approx 3 & 1/4" with 2" object balls.

A couple of World Snooker Champions (Neil Robertson and Mark Selby) learned their craft in this game as did several US Pool Game Champions (Appleton, Boyes, Melling, Shaw, Peach etc.).

So as not to seem too English Commonwealth prejudiced, it was perhaps Jim Rempe who came to England and won the UK 8 Ball Championships, playing an unusually offensive style that encouraged players to pursue an aggressive style of play.

Huge raps to Jim for that! Perhaps the greatest conversion of pool styles we've ever seen!

What kind of Camera did you use?
I didn't take the shots. The guy on that facebook account did.

Most of the shots he took from 15+ meters away. It had about a 4 inch lens and he told be high shutter speed is the key to eliminating camera movement effects.
