Pool player kicks De La Hoya's ass

For those who know Tony R. in Vegas, he has a boxing workout arena , and some boxers come to his place to work out before an upcoming Vegas match.

Manny was at Tony's house this week working out for Oscar. Here's a picture from the last Manny match when he was working out at Tony's house.

Here is a post and picture contributed to this forum by JoeynCali in 2005 about Manny:

Btw, Ring Magazine recognized world featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao dropped by to show support for Efren.

Manny later delighted a small crowd by the practice table by performing a trick shot. Manny play and supports pool. He promotes pool tournaments in the Philippines. Unlike pool players, Pacquiao makes a good living. He is signed for two fights by HBO for around $2.6 million dollars this year.

The way the Pinoy pool players like to bet it up, and with Manny being a fan of Efren's, I'll bet that a few Phillipino pool players made a pretty good score on the fight last night...

It was a one-sided beat down right from the get-go, Oscar was battered like a rag doll from
pillar to post by the Pacman. He quit on his stool right before the bell rang in the 9th round...

I can't believe anyone pays for boxing anymore with UFC around. UFC makes boxing look like a joke.

Rep To you.. Boxing got old after Tyson left.. The first time..

Ooh-ooh, I heard it through the grapevine!

I heard it through the grapevine that Champion Poker Player Johnny Chan bet a large chunk of change on a TKO on the 7th and 8th rounds for Pacman to win.

The odds were 22 to 1 and 20 to 1.

Johnny Chan had a very nice payday!

Johnny Chan on the left, posing with Pacman and friend last year in Vegas!

He must be some fighter-I havent seen him fight yet somehow. He was way up in weight too right?

He's just about the toughest kid I ever saw step into a ring. All punch and all heart, he never backs up. And he is highly accurate with his punches, and can duck his opponents shots real good. One very tough customer.

And he is a low shortstop speed pool player, capable of running out a rack of 9-Ball. Been known to play $10,000 sets! You can't out bet him either!

Cool pics, JAM! Thx for sharing.

Random thoughts...
To reiterate what has already been said, boxing itself is a sham...so many weight classes, so many divisions, so many organizations. It's no wonder the sport is mired with cheating...there is too much stuff going on for anyone to really notice or care.

That being said (and w/o watching the fight) Manny is obviously still cresting on an already great career, and De La Hoya's career has been in decline pretty much since he was robbed of victory against Trinidad, victory against Fernando Vargas notwithstanding.

My thoughts are anyone complaining about paying for the fight needs to take a look at the man in the beer reflection, because it has been made apparent that these fights De La Hoya has been promoting and fighting in, he is way, way the underdog.

Anyway, props De La Hoya for a great career (39 wins - 30 KOs - 6 losses). I hope you're happy in retirement. I used to watch all of your fights.

The owner of the boxing practice site in Vegas, where these boxers practice before a big Vegas match, happens to be a friend of my boyfriend's, and that's how I got my paws on some very cool pictures.

How much body fat do you think Pacman has?

This kid is solid as a rock! Picture taken earlier this year. :)

Dennis Hatch also was a boxer.

I can't believe how bad the betting line turned out to be for this match. Didn't you have to bet 180 to win 100 betting on Oscar?

Boxing has been a joke for quite sometime now !

I boxed for almost 5 years amature & use to follow it religiously but when sweet pea got robbed of fight by judges when he was champ & destoyed De le hoya..which also cost me $1000 dollar wager..well i gave up on it a bit & just followed it from a far...If ya'll remember fight with Oscar & Pernell...Sweet pea was the champ..knocked Oscar down 1 round..should have been a 10-8 round...comp-u-stat had him with over 100 more punches landed & judges still gave it to Oscar by a lopsided score...like they wasn't even watching same fight or something..Old days it use to be that if you was the champ somebody had to actually beat u for the title not just be more popular & crowd favorite..just my opinion on the matter & the sport.

Yes, a pool player named Manny just came in and kicked Oscar's little butt. Too bad! Paky YOOOO!!

Pool players are BAD TO THE BONE! Manny may be able to afford to have another pool tournament for all of his pool playing fans. I'm IN!
