Well, I'm on some e-mail list and just discovered that this Blair Thein dude from Florida has actually effected his concept of Pool, Poker and Pain. Bravo to him!
"Pool, Poker and Pain," with the backing of Simonis, Brand in Entertainment, and anybody who desires to be a sponsor pre-launch, is looking mighty sporty [pun intended]. :grin-square:
I wonder, though, what it would be like if they changed the order of events to Pain, Poker, and Pool. By the looks of some of these contestants, I don't think the pool players have to like it. Yikes!
I know Tony Crosby and Dennis Hatch are excellent pool players, but I am not very familiar with the other names: Cesar Infantas, Romeo Brown, Tommy Hernandez, Jesse Piercey, Danny Smith, Vance Miles, Adam Kanard, George Payne, Bjoern Lepke, Daniel Louge, Rob Wetherhold, and Damian Mancini. In fact, they look a little rough and tough. I wouldn't want to cross them, that's for sure.
The video promo is excellent. Joey K is conversing through the window of Hatchet Man's car, which for some reason put a smile on my face. Dennis Hatch is funny.
Jerry Slivka is, well, Jerry Slivka. He hasn't changed much as far as emotional expression, but he's always up for the challenge. And it's the Jerry Slivkas of the world you have to watch out for, the silent type.
Tony Crosby was charming, as usual, with that British acccent, explaining he's got courage to get in the ring, remembering him coming out on top of some Irish blokes when he was 8 years old. Oh, Tony, please protect those sweet baby blues! :duck:
Rodney Morris is the pool coach, which is a good choice. Gee, that picture of Rodney on their website sure does look familiar.
Poker is already a huge hit with mainstream media. I have been involved in MMA sports with my job in recent times, and I must say, it is addicting. They say timing is everything, and I think Blair Thein's timing is perfect. I wish him the best of luck on this venture. It's been a long time in the making, and it's now a reality.
Check out the video on the website. I loved it. Click here:Pool, Poker and Pain Website
Is this the change agent that pool needs to effect a change for the better? Time will tell, but I'm pulling for this to be a success.
Will a pool player come out on top, or will it a poker player or an MMA fighter? Needless to say, may the best pool player win, and if he's American, that's even better!
Let's get ready to rumble. Rack 'em, Sausage!
