After the first of the year we are going to try, and get some of the Phoenix Area Players to help the kids at the Boys, and Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix with some basic pool instruction clinics.

If you like kids, and have some basic pool knowledge, and would be willing to do a clinic at a Boys, and Girls Club or Teen Center your help is need. <<<<<----"BRANCH" Locations Linked Here. Check to see if there is one close to where you live, as they are all over Phoenix.

If you could help let Larry Eans of the Northern Lounge know by e-mail as you help is needed.

No you don't have to be an expert instructor, as we need to start thiese kids off with Basic Stuff like ghost Ball Aiming, Bridging, Gripping the Cue, etc. Kids range in age from 8 to 18...years

All you need do is look at the MAP LINK, and e-mail Larry. Lots of opportunities.

I am on my way to Arizona as we speak, and will be in Phoenix Friday and Saturday. I'd certainly be willing to do a clinic at one of the teen centers. I emailed Larry, and await his reply.

Larry forward it to me, I forwarded it the the VP At the BGCMP., and left her voice mail. It would be great for the kids if this work out.....

I am going to contact Larry also. Not that I can teach or anything but maybe to do a little fund raiser that might help. I have a few things to work out but I will find out more when I speak to Larry. I think this is a great thing that is being done here, I'm notsure if its Larry or COCO but whoever it is. Good job.
Mark,

Mark,

Is that really important? Think what is REALLY important is the project.

FYI Larry is dealing with all the other Clubs besides, or outside of Peoria Club that is my BABY!!!!!!!

So Larry is your man Mark. Fund Raising will be needed in 2010, As I know Larry is Planning another Bill Moore Memorial tournament in November 2010, and this year fund raiser for BGCMP was wonderful, and Larry has DELIVERED ALL THE WISH LIST STUFF to BGCMP..

Yes, I personally think it is important, to give credit where credit is due is important to me. I am guessing that is the question or comment I have regarding If it was you or larry who was spear heading this project.

I don't think you are gonna have a problem getting teachers to help the kids. Are you going to be doing some teaching COCO?

The guy who start the Cues4Kids project is DJ who is RCSCW Sports Pavillion Manager, he started it by give me RETIRED POOL BALLS from RCSCW. If I never got the Retrired Pool Ball to get rid of none of this would have ever happened.

Me Teach why not, Peoria get me...:smile:I have a regular who I help with Pool who is 96 YEARS YOUNG, and loves the game.

RCSCW?? I am not sure what that stands for. Please let me know on that. So You started all of this then COCO? Or if you didn't get the retired balls it would not have happened without you? Am I right? If theat it the case then well done and I am sure alot of kids appreciate it.

RCSCW Recreation Centers of Jurassic Park were I live........

I started the the whole thing with the Boys, and Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix with some UNWANTED POOL BALLS I was trying to find a home for. Plus I ask Larry Eans Owner of the Northern Lounge, and BCAPL League Operator (Arizona Hot Shots!!) to join me. <<<<<------STORY LINKED.

Had not RCSCW Retired BALLS SET, and I would up with the Ball Sets, this thing would have not happened! As I would have never been to the Peoria AZ Branch of BGCMP as I did not event know there were boys, and Girls club in PHOENIX.

Your Pal Mark in Montana Ran the Story below in his Pool Papers!! FYI....

END of Story!!!!!

Report on the Boys & Girls Club clinic

I had the opportunity to spend about an hour and a half with the kids at the Missouri Ave. Boys & Girls Club Teen Center, in Phoenix, yesterday. They let the younger kids come in and watch too, so we had a good sized group of kids. I spoke about etiquette, rules, taking care of the equipment, played some games with some of the kids, taught a few fundamentals, and showed a few trick shots. ALL of the kids now have a better understanding of, and hopefully appreciation for, the game of pool! It was fun, and I hope to come back again, the next time I'm in Phoenix. As I posted in another thread...if every pro (tournament, teaching, trick shot) would step up and donate a tiny bit of their time, we could make a big impact with the kids, who are the future of our sport!

So how did it go with the kids at the BGCMP?

Sounds like the kids probably had a lot of fun.

I'll have to find that other thread and read more.

Yes and it was more than fun as I understand it Scott impacted these children's lives, and maybe some will play Pool for another 50 years thank to Scott.

Honestly as I told my contact at BGCMP when I heard of Scott's generous offer from Larry Eans. Bridget you got to make this happen as Scott is World Class, and this will be a once in a life time opportunity for the kids. Bridget made it happen, and the kids, and staff had a wonderful experience.

Normally the clubs are open until 8 PM on Fridays, but the FIRST FRIDAY of Each Month is always a Staff Training DAY! So the Club closed at 5 P.M. that Friday

For everyone out there, you do not have to be a professional instructor, to have an impact on these kids. If you love pool, just go and give a little bit of your time to your local Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, or even community college. You can have a great influence on bringing more kids into this sport we love!
