Pool Scene in "Justified" tonight on FX

I cannot wait for tonight's first episode of the second season. I love this show.

The lead character of Raylan Givens, played by the very handsome Timothy Olyphant, for some reason reminds me of Shannon Daulton. I'm not sure why, other than it takes place in Kentucky and they both share that same sweet Kentucky accent. He has a lot of Shannon's expressions and mannerisms in this show.

One time at Super Billiards Expo in Valley Forge, Shannon and Liljon sang a little diddy a cappella, which I will never forget. Well, this star character on "Justified" really does remind me of Shannon's personality. :wink:

Anyway, click on my signature line and see a brief snippet of the pool scene. I have seen other brief pool scenes on this show from last season, too.

The theme song for this TV show is a new genre of music known as "gangstagrass." It's a combination of blue grass and hip-hop. I kind of like it.

Years ago when I was on a Miami Vice kick I had installed an eight foot dish at my house and I would get Miami Vice from some pirate station in Brazil or one of the Island nations sometimes a week in advance. Do you have a source I don't know about?

I'm just a fan. I didn't watch the show when it first came out, but I did catch the tail end of the season. Then I had to watch every single episode from my Comcast Online Demand, which allows me to see the earlier episodes. I was hooked.

Timothy Olyphant made a cameo appearance on "The Office" last year, and I was wondering if something happened to "Justified." I then went on a Google rampage trying to learn more. I then discovered on their website that Season 2 would begin in February. Here is their website: Justified FX website.

When I clicked on the promo trailer for Season 2, imagine my delight when I discovered the sound of balls breaking in a pool room right at the beginning. :grin:

That Rayful Givens sure is easy on the eyes, too. He exudes confidence, mystique, sex, and brains.

There's a new character coming in Season 2, which I just read about in a highly favorable review by the New York Daily News:

There's a new crook in town. Well, she's not new exactly. Mags Bennett (Margo Martindale) is the local Ma Barker, matriarch and legacy inheritor of Eastern Kentucky's largest pot-growing business.

I can't wait until tonight: American Idol and then Justified. Yippeeee!

Thanks for the heads up on the second season starting. I really enjoyed the first season. I lived in southeastern Kentucky for about four years and its interesting to see how they portray it on the show. My first college roomate's father was a deputy in Harlan and I went home with him a few times to hang out on a weekend.

Those coal towns are no joke.

I've always been into bluegrass from my roots. Everybody in my birth family plays bluegrass. I'm the banjo picker.

Check the very last 90 seconds of the final episode of Season 1. You can hear the wind rustling in the leaves and the sounds of nature in this beautiful part of the world. Man, that is sweet music to my ears: Last 90 Seconds of Justifed (Season 1).

What a great song they chose to end Justified's Season 1 by Brad Paisley. Here's the video tribute to Harlan County, Kentucky, by Brad Paisley: "You Will Never Leave Harlan Alive."

Raylan Givens is a modern-day lawman with a 19th century style of justice.

We'll be coming 'round that mountain when we come for sure, Billy. If you're running the joint, I know it's a good pool room -- or I should say a "real" pool room. You're exactly what this area needs when it comes to pool.

Well, as usual, I fell asleep last night. I missed American Idol, but I did tape "Justified." So I can't wait to see it later today after work. From the Washington Post to NPR, all the reviews were quite favorable for this episode.

During WWII Kentucky grew a lot of hemp for the government. During the 70's there was a Ky blue that people used before the the Jamacian Red, Panama Red, etc. During that time possession of 100 lbs or less was considered a misdemeanor. At least that's what I heard. The two women that Givens is involved with make me want to move to Appalachia. Givens is not Olyphants first lawman show. Anytime you get a chance, see Deadwood. Both shows are very real in their depictations of the local flavor of their eras. Harlan county has always been a very tough area of Kentucky. Moonshining is or was big, big business because of the christian "blue" laws and dry counties. I believe the movie Matwann was based on the coal mining strike busting in Harlan county. Strikes and union busting go hand in hand in coal. What the coal industry has done to the country side and the workers is deplorable. I lived in a "company" town for a summer, it was really depressing to see people who lived in the same hollar all their lives depending on the company. Justified is a great show. A friend of mine who still lives in the big L told me about it. We even like the reruns. :grin-devilish::grin-devilish::yikes::yikes::wave2:

Did anybody catch the last name of the young girl, Loretta, who was kidnapped? If I heard it right, it sure did sound like McCready. :thumbup:

Interestingly, the McCready clan still lives in this area as well as Southern Virginia. There's buildings and mountains and churches named after them.
