Pool Shoes

A lot of players swear by Nike Shocks.

Personally, Ecko, K-Swiss, Y-3s all feel comfortable when playing... Nike Air Force 1s arn't so great to play in, they are a little too stiff and by the time you wear them in enough that they feel comfortable they just look awful.

I was wearing em long before that stupid song came out. All it did was drive up the price on em.

Some people got nike shox in every color for me its air forces.

Fatboy, I know that you can afford these so later you're going to tell me that I did you a huge favor.

For a number of years now I've been wearing shoes and boots made to measure for me by Russell Moccasins. Within all the shoes and boots they've made for me of course I have a favorite. These are suitable for use with jeans or anything but shorts. They have a true moccasin vamp which cradles your foot. The Vibram 2060 sole must contribute too because I've tried it on other boots with good results. If you're not near Berlin, Wisconsin just send them your foot measurements and about 3-4 months later and $225 less in your wallet will get you extreme comfort. I guarantee it. I have foot problems, have diabetes, and am a big heavy guy. Shoes are important to me when I'm on my feet for hours. Have a look around their site. They've been making sportsmen happy for 110 years or so...Tom

Thank you Tom, I will try a pair of these, I dont have foot problems but I cant stand uncomfortable shoes, infact I dont wear shoes much, I'm gonna check out the site, they just have to be black,

JohnnyT my bank roll aint what it was this time last year, I never BS about $$$ or anything for that matter and my income has taken a huge hit, I'm ok but it isnt like it was. I dont let it bother me just gotta ride it out, so I'll have to pass on buying the shoe company. Remember that guy who liked the razor company and did the commercials "I liked the razor so much I bought the company", that was in the late 70's I think.

So much for NIKE corporate
support in the pool world.

Its funny you mention that, I had an idea that involved them and a player marketing their goods, like Tiger, Serena, etc, does. I was gonna work on that over the next few months, If you have any contacts there please PM me. The thought popped into my head a couple weeks ago and I think if I pitch it right I can sell it, I'm not looking to make anything on it at all-just doing a friend(player) a favor. Like I said I just want to do things for pool, I didnt mention it because it was a bit earily but with your post I decided to let the cat out of the bag, If it dosent work no big deal. I hope it will-if it does you'll see a player wearing Nike gear, I wont be involved beyond that.

I know there have been threads about great shoes to play in, but I think it should be addressed occassionally as new one are coming out.

Whenever I shop for anything, I always consider how it will affect my pool game. Shoes especially. I look for good carpet traction, comfortable sole & good comfy interior. I'm currently playing in some Johnston Murphy casuals. They are extremely comfortable in the long haul and grip very well.

Does anyone have shoes that you swear by as "players"?

Ray

These have been my favorite shoes to play in........by far:

I totally agree with you, Ironman.
What's next? What color of shirt makes you play better?
Does the type of soap you wash with affect your game?
Sheeesh!

All that's needed is a little common sense.

You can play in any type of shoes. Yes, if you are playing in a tournament or a long session it makes sense to wear comfortable shoes. However, picking shoes specifically for playing pool seems a bit extreme.

the choice of clothes u play in can be important wheter u know it or not. to tight and you cant strech over for long shots. Too loose and ur shirt can touch ball and be a foul. Shoes r especially important. try playing on a concrete floor (ala my avatar) and wearing dress shoes.

I find that a weekly pedicure.. can really help meld the toe/sock/shoe base into a really solid stance..I always get great english after a pedicure,...

thats the #1 secret of the top pro's...so shhhhhhh mum's the word...

if this gets out it could spell disaster for the pool world as we know it...

I wear runners when not in bigger tournaments. Nike Air Max 95s, Nike Shox R4, Adidas Goodyear racers.

Big tournaments, I wear Kenneth Cole dress shoes with a rubber bottom. They arent the most comfortable shoe in the world, a small heel but great for a dress shoe.

Runners here too. Shox and the air max someone else listed on the first page. Same style just a little different in terms of looks.

I tried playing in diff kinds and it's just not as comfortable for me.

Oh!

I HATE playing without shoes on, when practicing at home, I always had to wear shoes.

Many, many, many times people play great pool without their "pool shoes", or "pool outfits" and don't even think about it.

I believe that 99.999% of pool players have more to worry about when playing pool than what they are wearing.

Agreed, playing pool and wearing dress shoes on a concrete floor can be hazardous to your boys, but precautions can (and should) be taken to prevent any cracking incidents (more frequent use of the cue rest).

Regarding loose fitting clothing and fouling by touching a ball with your clothing, that only becomes an issue during refereed matches. "Average Joe" tournaments and general play use the "cue ball fouls only" rule.

I agree with much of what you say.
It's only common sense to wear clothing/footwear that is appropriate to any activity you are planning to do.

However, I find it absurd that people decide on whether or not to purchase their clothing/shoes based on how it could affect their pool playing.

I wouldn'ta thunk it either, until this post. I jokingly posted a pic of my golf shoes (which if you think it's absurd to purchase those - try playing at 6am-ish in the dew or after a good spring or summer rain), but I've never picked out shoes specifically for pool. I have a number of pairs of running shoes (my shoe of choice for most everything other than work) that work quite well for playing. Maybe I'll try each pair out until I find which makes me miss less....:D

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the best Damn shoes in the history of the world--Earth shoes are the bomb. Thats EARTH shoes the ones with the Kalso heel technology and I'm a big guy and the Earth Logan K is the lightest most comfortable shoe I have ever tried. I spent months buying shoes from Shoebuy .com and Planetshoes.com before I found the earth brand, Planet has the Logan k on sell for 78 dollars in 4 colors and both of these sites ship them free and ship them back free if you don't like them, I do auto repair and wear a leather pair of earth shoes all day standing on concrete with 290 pounds and they are like nothing else I have ever tried. Now someone tell me where to find Gold Toe socks for sale.--Leonard

its all about the socks these days.

Socks, shoes, they all help and each person will have their own preference. For shoes, I actually like basketball shoes, which seem to have the most comfort.

But to really let you in on my secret.....(this is going to make you laugh but it's true): My feet used to hurt, well actually they ached a bit after playing for from a few hours to several hours and so I tried many different shoes and socks which helped marginally. Finally after getting only temporary help and short term relief with the shoes and socks, I started exercising my feet and toes. In the morning I would get up and there did not seem to be a lot of blood flow in my feet and it was like my feet weren't getting enough blood circulation. For my entire life, I never flexed my toes, you know, like a monkey can do where he bends his toes so that he could pick up a pencil. Well, I started flexing my toes and exercising my feet before I get up in the morning or any time I am laying down with my shoes off. I can tell you that my feet and toes are MUCH stronger than they have ever been and my feet no longer ache after a long session on the pool table. I still get tired but my feet don't say, "Please don't ever do that again". :)

JoeyA (strongest toes on the forum) and have run out of pencils at home that have not been broken

I now wear CROCKS when playing pool. They are by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn and I am a big guy, so comfortable shoes are a big deal for me. They are closed toed, so are legal in all big tournaments. I even wear them at home where I used to practice in bare feet.

I've been looking for a pair of these, because here in Louisiana, we can climb up on the table and neither of our feet have to touch the ground.
When I go out of town, they make you keep at least one foot on the ground. With these shoes, I should be able to lay on the table and still have the toes of the shoes reach the floor. Do they come in extra long?:D

REP for the great suggestion. :D

WOW! Earth shoes come in a lot of different styles and colors. I like the hype about some of their other styled shoes besides the Logan K which is a steal price wise. Thanks for the heads-up.
