Ever buy a Pool Accessory, or Cue that was HYPED to the Hill. Than you got it and said to yourself why.

My personal Favorite is The “Ultimate Cue Tip Tool”, and yes I know they sell how many Thousands a Year.

Got mine from a Buddy who is a “SHADE TREE" Pool Business, it was a STEAL of a Deal. Money poorly spent.

I compare it to the Swiss Army Knife with A GaZillion Blades. Can do a Few things O.K., but most of it Functions are So So or El Crapo.

The “Ultimate Cue Tip Tool”

So what your Pool Stuff you would NEVER BUY again...

Tip-tapper.

Useless for me.

No substitute for a tip pick.

Personally Own both, and My Tip Pic with a Chain that Hold MY CHALK is my Number 1 Accessorie. But I still use my Tapper, not as a FILE as I have seen it used but as a TAPPER.... :p

A Meucci or a Joss. Might not be "accessories", but that's my contribution.

Any shaft cleaner or slicker.

A damp cloth and a plain piece of paper is all I need and use now.

The Ultimate tip tool works great if you are doing your own tips. There are a couple of minor modifications you have to make but it does the job for shaving and smoothing the sides of a new tip. That and a flat file you are in business.

JJ Jump break cue would be my vote. I still use it as a break cue but as a jump cue I leave that job to my Lucasi. I swear it worked in the store.

That reminds me of a story. It is golf but goes along the same lines... I was at a driving range one day and there was a guy that had a booth set up and he was letting people test clubs that he put together. After trying a few of his Ping and 845 knockoffs he asked "You want to try a boom boom stick?" He had a club called a 747 with a mellincite (sp?) head on it. It was sort of a 2 wood if you were to classify it as anything. Pretty much a utility wood that could be used for driving or for fairway play before such clubs were popular. I took that club and hit the ball like I was a god. I smacked 250 yards off the tee and off the grass and straight as an arrow. After rattling off 20 perfect balls I knew I had to own that club. I promptly paid the man his 125.00 asking price and was excited to play with it on the course. My first day with it I get up to the tee after boasting about it with my foursome. I hit the ball and to my dismay I watched it slice way off so far into the woods I could bearly hear it smacking several branches on it decent. I figured well I must have left my wrist open when I hit the ball. So I tee'ed up another and cranked it along with its brother out into the wooded beyond. Now four strokes down before even leaving the tee box I figured it was time to hit an easy shot. I took an easier stroke and zing off to the right it went around 150 yards down the wood line smacking off a tree and bouncing back onto the fairway. By the 4th hole and unrelenting riticule from my friends I had decided I would retire the Boom Boom stick until another day. I owned that club for over 5 years and I can remember only hitting a couple of shots that remotely mimicked the first 20 strokes that looked so beautiful. I sold the clubs to another gentleman when I got my new set and he was telling me how he was impressed how well that 747 club hit on the driving range. I told him beware when you get on the course. That club has two faces... I never heard from him again, could be he was never found again looking for another lost victim from the dreaded cursed Boom Boom stick.

This could just as easily have been a story about all women. The face before marriage...and the face after marriage.  (Eeeee YIKES...head for the hills!!!)

The Porper Mushroom graser. I probably shouldn't be trusted with sharp objects but I never did get the hang of trimming a tip and not trimming the ferrule or just ripping off the tip.

Fabulous question. I buy everything because I'm a gear whore. That being said:

Pocket Reducers: Decent thought, but the pocket reducer doesn't allow you to shoot over a pocket because its spring holding mechanism is in the way. Plus, the pocket, no longer resembles a normal pocket with facings.

Porper Burnisher: Silly Delrin tapered thingy that "burnishes" the tip. The taper squashes the tip with repeated use, tenderizing the tip. Torque it too much, and you'll torque the tip off.

Tip Pik: I know people loves these, but this is also a tip tenderizing tool. Your tip needs to stay hard to stay consistent, IMO. I suppose it's not a bad idea on phenolic tips, but I don't use it on that either.

Mushroom Grazer: I've seen people use this with extreme expertise. I've also seen people (like me) chunk their tips or nick their ferrule.

Magnet Chalk Holder: Another decent thought, but the chalk is in the way and gets knocked off onto the floor too often.

Burnishing Paper/Slips: As someone pointed out, this is lapping paper that can be purchased in larger sheets for 1/10th the price.

I'm sure there's more,...

Surprise, surprise

I own 3 tip tools currently and have the habit of loosing them occasionally. The Ultimate Tip Tool is the only one that I have replaced after loosing it and I think it is the best tool out there. Beware the fork end tho...

I avoid almost ALL cue specific products since they are usually simply repackaged and overpriced other stuff.

I love most of the "tools" since they bring me more cue repair business.

At the BCA show a few years ago I was wandering around and come upon this booth. I forget what the name of the item is/was, but it was manufactured in Canada. It was a sleeve that fits over your shaft; all the way to the joint...made of vinyl...you of course could put your logo on this item for an additional charge.

The purpose of this item was to cover your shaft when your cue was not in play to protect the shaft in case the cue inadvertently fell over. I basically told the guy at the booth that that seemed rather lame, so I got a free demonstration!!! (Oh, boy!!!)

The guy took a cue with this device on the shaft and knocks it to the floor. The first thing I notice is the joint hit the floor long before the shaft ever did, so I proceeded to tell him...well the joint isn't protected...I'd be more concerned with chipping the joint than hurting the shaft should my cue get knocked over.

Well, he assured me that nothing would happen to the joint using this product, as the bottom lip of this device was thicker solely for this purpose. Upon further inspection I notice that he was infact correct. The bottom lip was made of folded up vinyl at the seam...exactly like Levi does his jeans!! And I mean exactly!!!

Well the guy could still see I wasn't sold so he gave me one free to try out for myself. I sill have it...still enclosed in its package...mint condition. Does anyone think it would be worth it to list it in the Wanted/ For Sale forum???

I know youse guys are gonna howl about this one, BUT IDGAS...

I will never own another 9 foot table again. I do play well on 9 foot tables (tough 7-8 Speed on a 9 footer), but there aren't any tournaments on 9 foot tables. 95% of the tournaments are on Bar Boxes, so I am gonna give up the big table for the Bar Box. I can see better on a Bar Box...

I like the Tip Tapper, but the MUSHROOMIE deal cost me some ferrules. I like the Q-Wiz, Joint Protectors, a GOOD Rack, Big Case (3-7), Custom Jump Cue, Predator BK, Magic Eraser, Practice Cue Balls & lots of videos & books to learn from.

I have a jj jump cue that works pretty good for me, but I'm curious to know if others make it easier. I do fairly well in jumping with this one. I mean, getting over the ball I'm jumping isn't a problem. Accuracy is another issue. Just like any other shot, I figure the less hard you need to hit a jump shot, the more accurate you can be.

I guess I'm asking, is the reason you like your Lucasi better because you don't have to hit it as hard to get it over the ball?

Yeah, I got me one of those. It did something that was never advertised it could do. It put a scratch in my ivory ferrule.

I heard that one before, but it was a little late when I scratched my ferrule with it.

Put them in upside down to relieve the shooting problem. Take off those green triangle thingy's, get some pocket facings from your local table installer, drill some small holes in them, and slip them on in place of the the green triangle thingies. Works pretty good that way.

As sold they are pretty useless.
