Hello everyone,
New to the forum,
Just thought I'd say hi and let you in on a few of my interests.
I am a cabinet maker from mid IL, with a re fired passion for pool in the last few years. Have taken a couple of lessons from Mark Wilson (What a great guy he is) and am improving.
I love and appriciate fine workmanship, and have collected a few pool cues, I have several Nova cues that I like very much (nothing hits like a Nova, lol)
Have always admired butterfly splice cues, and have recently added a Bill Webb cue, that I am most proud of, (What a craftsman!)

Most interesting to you maybe might be that I have crafted a few pool tables!!
There are some pics on my website-- andydugan.com
But here are a few pics of the last two.
9 footers, QS White oak, .150 thick Solid Surface inlays, Figured Bubbinga rail tops, 1 1/4" brass pinned Italian slate, Artimis Rubber, BCA specs on the pocket angles, so on, so on. lol

One of these will be my personal table, the other is available to a good home, lol.

Just wanted to say hi,
Look forward to chatting with you,
Thanks,
Andy

welcome Andy!
i am from S.W. Indiana, also have a nova cue, and its as good as playing cue as i have ever hit with. sure wish Nubs would come back out of retirement.

your table pics look very nice, i have a Gold Crown IV at my place. have had a 7' Brunswick, 8' Steepleton, and a 9' E.A.Burgin table over the years.

Thanks,
I Met Nub's about 2 years ago, he still had his shop set up in Wisconsin, but was getting ready to pack up for Kentucky. Havn't heard too much about him since, but he sure does beautiful inlay work.

Nice work!! I look forward to seeing the finished product.
Thank you,
I have everything done now, just waiting for the right chance to get it set up, I will post pics when it is finished.

Hi Andy,

Welcome to the forum! I think you and I did some business together on a Nova cue awhile back. It might have even been your inspiration for the table inlays. They sure will look good together!

I'm still using a Nova as my playing cue. They're hard to beat. I wish Nubs would have been able to keep his shop! He was in the process of making me an ebony and ivory cue for about the last three years before he closed down. I just assumed he would be back in the swing of things before too long, but I guess it looks like he's out of the biz. He recently called me and said it looks like I'm not going to be getting the cue, as his equipment was in the process of being sold.

If you get the chance, please think about posting pics of your Novas on the Cue Gallery Forum. I always like to see Novas, and we have a couple of hard core Nova people on this chatline. Take care!

Regards,

Steve in Phoenix

Hi Steve,
And thank you,
I think we did, not sure which cue,, I'm thinking the one with 8 points and all of the ivory stacked in them? If so, yes it was part of my insperation for my inlays, that and another nova I have, red stained maple with 6 ebony points and 3 ivorys inside them, either way, Good Call!!
Bummer to hear about Nubs, it's a shame.
I will try to get some pics of them to post.
I've been getting excited about Billy Webb's work recently, have you seen any of his cues?

Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy,

It was the first one you mentioned. That's one of the only cues I've ever owned that I regretted selling, so I'm sure glad it went to someone like you who could appreciate it!

Regards,

Steve

Not too sure on the price yet, but it won't be cheap! lol
Lot's of thought and sweat in those 2.
It's going to be a little like adoption, I'm going to have to know it's going to a good home, lol.

Nice tables!

Doogie...Very nice looking tables! Obviously some Kling influence there! :D
I look forward to seeing the finished table. Be sure to take some pics to post, as you put together the pinned slates. I don't know why they ever quit doing that. Of course the pieces would have to be perfectly matched! Seems like a great way to maintain level slates.

Kling influence??
I have the rails and blinds done now, I will try to get some pics of them on later today. I just happened to get lucky on obtaining the slate. I have three new sets, all 1 1/4", 2-9' and 1-8' They are slate sets for Lehmacher tables. I found them from a dealer that was going out of business. Lucky find.

And, pro-tyme, would love to see what you have, I could be interested, and I have a friend that might be interested as well.

Nice looking table. I live in Milwaukee, and I see your from IL. I am 95.87643529% finished with my Rec. room. One project I still have is building the bar. A cabinet maker like you should be able to handle it; you interested?

Wow!!! Crazy, Sexy, Sweet. I'm jealous.

You realize that you've started down a path that just might make you "un-retire"?

Hi Craig, and thank you.
I get to St. Louis once in a while, that figured Bubbinga for the rail tops came from Hibdons. Let me know your address and I will come by.
I became aquainted with mark a couple of years ago when i took a lesson from him, and have been to the Bullpen a few times, took my nephew to him to get his stroke tuned. I and a friend also went to Jeanette's Black Widow experiance in Vegas. Three days with Jeanette and George, Mark, Helana Thonfeldt, Jerry Briesath,, was a blast.

I am a cabinet maker by trade, the pool tables are more of a passion than a hobby. I have built 5 tables so far, 3- 8 footers, and these 2-9's all cope and pattern construction with cross and length beams. A friend of mine that deals in pool tables and restores antique tables, helped me with the mechanic's of how a table should be built. My goal was to create a table that plays like a pro table, but with a custom, or antique look.
Anyway, I'm rambling, and yes the bottom table of the 2-9's is for sale, and I have an 8' for sale that is Cherry and figured Maple. There are pics of the other tables on my website. www.andydugan.com

Thanks again,
Andy

Thank you tjlmbklr,
I have crafted a couple of bars, In fact I am going to build a bar and bar back to go with the 9 that I'm keeping, along woth a cue rack and light. I have a 17 cue rack that goes with the 9, and with the 8' cherry/maple table.
And, Milwaukee? I picked up that 1 1/4" slate in West Bend.
I could be interested in your bar project, send me a mail.

that case is sweet. Definitely compliments the table. Sure wish I had room for a third table!
Wonder if I could talk the kids into moving into the garage!;)
