Pool Tournaments During COVID Pandemic

There is no proof of asymptomatic carriers. None.A positive COVID test and no symptoms is not proof. A test is used after diagnosis of symptoms. It is that way for every illness.

That is not so.

Researchers are still trying to figure out exactly how prevalent it is for asymptomatic people to spread the disease. There are numbers as high as 81% to a low of 17%. But is generally agreed, amongst knowledgeable people in the field, that it is one way the disease is infecting people.

Johnny Archer just tested positive for COVID after competing in the 5 Rivers Holiday Classic 9-ball event at Jac's All American Billiards & Brews in Tennessee. He has a fever and is in pain from coughing. I pray for Johnny to have a full recovery.

Everybody on-site at that event should get tested. It is a shame folks did not wear masks and practice social distancing. Photos below are from the event in Tennessee. When you play pool, you touch the rack, the balls, the table, the bridge, et cetera. COVID germs can be transmitted on surfaces. One person can infect thousands and not know it, and some people get COVID but are asymptomatic and never know it, yet they can transmit the virus to others who can get deathly sick.

Pool events continue to happen daily, yet I read pool people are getting sick and/or dying from COVID daily. Do you think it is okay to have pool tournaments like this during the pandemic? I realize this is a difficult and contentious issue. Pool rooms are suffering from the economy, and pool players, social shooters and pros, have nothing to shoot for anymore. Weekly leagues are ongoing, but I see very few people social distancing or wearing masks.

America and the world is being taken over by fat cat crooks. Covid is 100% a scam to destroy everything. Violating our God-given rights cos someone doesn't feel good is retarded. Turn the dam Tv off. It is satanic lies, all of it. The government is a hard-core domestic terrorist. Covid is a terrorist attack on our freedom and all of our rights. You need to stop watching Tv and study the Bible and the constitution. Mask wearers are terrorists. Mercenaries for the take over of the world.

If you think Covid 19 is a scam then your the same type of person who thinks the earth is flat. My dad died of this two weeks ago and was an otherwise heathy man. Do I think some of this is overblown, absolutely. But this isn't nothing. The hospital staff would also say that this isn't a scam or nothing. They see what you don't see, or refuse to see.

To all of the people complaining about others not wearing masks or social distancing, I shouldn't hear any of you say you are not going to get the vaccine. Now that we have an effective and safe way to end this pandemic and get the country going again it would be very irresponsible and selfish to not get vaccinated .

Exactly. Go get your vaccine and you dont have to worry about those of us not wearing masks. Trust The Science.

It was on topic. You are publicly shaming people who choose not to wear a mask.
No. I am publicly shaming people like you who post nonsensical posts and ignore the danger that COVID poses to the world. This is a pandemic, Pal. Wake up and smell the coffee while you still can.

My daughter received the first of two Pfizer vaccines last Thursday. She is in the health care field. She said it hurt a lot at the injection site, more than a flu shot hurts, and she did have some symptoms of runny nose, body aches, and fatigue. She received the vaccine at the hospital she works at and came home immediately and went to bed. Next day, however, she was almost 100 percent fine.

I will be able to get my vaccine probably in January. I'm a senior citizen, so after front-line workers and nursing home residents, I will probably be next in line. I may have the choice of Pfizer or Moderna. Not sure which one will be available, I guess.

We have neighbors who have not been anywhere since last March. They have all their groceries delivered. They are in their 70s. The man has had respiratory and heart problems. They are playing it very safe. I go to the grocery store during senior citizen hour and wear my mask and use hand sanitizer and wash my hands upon returning home. So far, so good for me. :)

Covid seems to have improved at least one thing...grocery pick up. I just order online and they bring it out to me during the scheduled delivery window. Pretty sweet...I don't even have to get out of the car. Think I'll just keep doing this indefinitely.

My pool bud and AZB member here is a health care professional and he got the vaccine last week as well. Like JAM's daughter said, he told me that his arm was sore around the injection site. All I know is that I'll be getting the covid vaccine as soon as it is made available to me.

You know, life as we know it will never be the same. Many Federal Government entities and private sector and academia are realizing how economically feasible it is to work from home. All these great big office buildings with office space are going to suffer in the future. I think this pandemic has opened the door for a lot of telework opportunities. Yes, there will still be a need for some to go in the office, but for health care in rural areas and non-essential workers, working out of the house works fine.

Sadly, I will say, however, that I have seen MANY, MANY, MANY empty stores and buildings now that were busy before. The economy is differing big time.

My brother gets his groceries delivered in Palm Springs, and he's had great success so far. He loves it.

This is true. I've read that folks are already fleeing large metro areas like SF Bay area, LA, etc moving an hour or more away and getting much more bang for their housing buck. Telecommuting is here to stay, at least I think that it is.

I read that REI is selling their brand new headquarters and are planning for a long term work from home model. I'm sure they are not the only firm doing so. Fine by me...the office sux, lol.

That's correct.
It will hurt the airlines as business travel will never get back to where it was.
The virtual world works for meetings too.
Person to person may not be necessary as business travel is very expensive, flights, hotels, food.
Less flying, less fuel expended.
Will hurt oil too.
