i think in some ways an online pool site is irrelevant to azb but on the other hand they are having the offical wpc online world pool championships so it is hard to say that it's not relevant to pool as well as azb main forum

it took me a few months but i adjusted to the tables on the old site poolcompsonline.com, and the tables there allowed the best/most skilled players to usually win most tourneys or finish in the money, they had a few glitches but u could still have fun with it, i actually believe that the glitch in how the balls wouldn't cut thin was a huge advantage to the better player because it forced u to be more accurate with your positional play, from what i was told they wanted to fix these glitches but the programmers that had built the game had messed up pretty badly and no upgrades could be made and thats why they started over from scratch

the new tables have been updated numerous times, at least a dozen or more, i noticed last night that the balls are breaking more open and that they changed the aim line, my main beef with the new tables is the rails, it shocked me that anyone would think they are the most realistic tables when they aren't even close because of the rails, kicking is almost completely negated, personally i take more pride in my kicking abilities/safety game than any other aspect, i have adjusted well to the banks and can bank pretty strong but even making a good hit on a basic kick shot is a tough task, it also botches the cue ball path so theres never much certainty as to the exact path, and english takes way too much off rails especially the harder u hit a shot

when they came out with the snooker tables i was excited because it's my favorite game but i was also annoyed because the rails played more realistic, so this led me to believe that they purposely wanted the rails to play unrealistic on the pool tables and since the purpose of the site is to improve your pool that it was a pretty big contradiction, until they fix the rails the site doesn't hold much credibility with me, if they correct the rails all they'd need to do is work on some flaws in the ball physics and then they'd have a really solid table

i agree with some others here that they should have snooker tourneys, their snooker game is the best pool game online, it has the best over all playability/realistic replication of an actual pool game, i would love to see some $20 - $50 entry tournies independent of pco because they won't take money for individual buy ins, i would love to play some high stakes snooker heads up but most people will welch even for a few bucks

So if all these people are trying it out just for practicing and methodology and nobody is joining, how in the world are they getting the funding to award ten grand every week in prize money? That's a lot of dollars. They must have a powerful backer.

That's a lot more than most semi-pro tours hand out in a week. Somethin's fishy here...

To play in the 10,000 weekly tournaments, you have to be a premium member, which is 8$ a month I think. I think the tournament entry is free. All I know is that each tournament gets TONS of players, a few hundred IIRC. I think there are alot of premium members. They are having an online WPC, which is $100,000 added. They are advertising that, and my guess is they are hoping to draw tons more premium members. I'm pretty sure the site has well finanaced backers too. Everything is pretty top notch.

Edit: on a sidenote, I played a recent 2nd place finisher of a $10,000 tournament for fun. We played a race to 5, and I lost 5-4. Neither of us missed a ball (as if that's hard to do LOL)

I also agree that kicking is very tough. When I have time to play, I go to the practice table and work on kick shots. That will help your game alot.

its 7.50$ a month now, and indeed, if u miss a ball, it will hard to get very far.
the 100.000$ tournament, not sure if it will ever be played. not with the amount of players that are online at this moment.

anyway, as long as there arent 256 players qualified, even if u lose your qualifying match u still get 2$ :D if u play every week , thats 8$ if u lose every match , still higher then what u pay for a month.

i recon it to everyone. im having nice times there.

I like that math Solartje. I'm signing right up. Johnnyt

Does anyone know if you can play in the $10,000 tournaments if you live in Florida? My wife says there are a lot of games and contests on the net that you can't play in Florida. Now I know what she does with my money :D Johnnyt

as long as your pc can play the game u can play everywhere.

ps they just moved the 3th round from 2pm to 9pm

bad bad idea, meaning some matches start a 4.30AM sunday. i mean COMON!!
this means everyone has to stay at home on a saterday in front of a computer? just not fair, let everyone play in the afternoon!!

Internet Pool Tour

Internet
Pool
Tour

OK,it isn't quite that bad but the software is very lacking and problems seem to be increasing instead of being solved and communication is getting worse.

I have played in every 10K match. In roughly half of my matches slow connections or software glitches have been an issue for both players.

In my last match, it wasn't even possible to play after updating to the latest Java software. The table was so slow that I was rarely able to shoot when it was my turn. I couldn't even break within the forty-five second limit unless I was willing to settle for a hit anywhere on the rack!

The forums have been closed and e-mails are not responded to.

The 100K matches have been postponed, payouts seemed to be reduced, then they came back to 100K but at an unknown date, hard to say exactly what since the blurbs on the website are cryptic and no follow-up information is to be found once the big tournaments didn't happen as scheduled.

It ain't really the Internet Pool Tour yet, but they seem to be putting their best efforts into getting there.
