could not load your site

I tried to load the practice table and all I got was a black screen. I am on a MAC running OS X. Is this a PC-only site?

Poolcomps
it's too hard to win. once you miss they always run out. and i don't really feel like practicing hours on this game

I have java

I have java and still get only a black screen on my MAC. Not uncommon for games to be written only for PC's. Just would like to know. But Java is not the problem, I have the latest version available and use it all the time.

That's because the physics in the game are great. If you can runout in real life, you should be able to run out in this game. Game acts very realistic for a free top view pool game.

Why is this subject even on AZ???

Shouldn't it be on a video game site somewhere or am I mistaken that AZ is a pocket billiards site?

Or atleast it should be in the "Non Pool Related" forum.

it's realistic to some extent but running out in real life and running out on a computer game is totally different. at least in real life you get to 'feel' the shots. here i have to measure and know that exact amount of power to use. how should i know how far 2 bars of strenght goes.
I wish they had snooker tournaments. I think it is more realistic than the pool table pool and to me more entertaining. I've played shaneinnot (is that correct?) online. seems like a nice guy.

what i don't get is people are actually gambling there? now that's a joke

It is if you believe MetalGear is related to the Army :(

That is just a way for someone to line their pockets some more and has no value to transfer over to the actual playing of the game.

Jerry:

I have two Mac systems on 10.4, one Intel based and one PPC based, and the site does not work for me either. I emailed them twice so far about it with no response. You should email them too. Hopefully they will fix it since it is Java and should work on any platform. You can still create a user ID and contact them with it from your Mac.

I am running Windows XP on my Intel Mac using Parallels software. Poolcomps works flawlessly with it.

Jerry,

I am running an Intel Mac as well. I believe what you have to do is close your browser and re-open it in Rosetta mode. It should work.

Yours is working in Rosetta mode? I haven't tried that, because one of my Mac systems is PPC and it does not work. That is basically what Rosetta does, AFAIK.

I use it while at work to figure out shots I missed last time I played. It's useful and free for that purpose. Also the 2-player is free.. or was when I signed up.

It's fairly realistic to a certain point. On extreme sidespin shots, they need to work on that, because what you can do with extreme sidespin in poolcomps is nowhere near realistic.

The game is all about position and safety play. They found out a way to randomize the break, so its harder to pocket a ball on the break and run out. If you get used to the speed control, you can run racks easily.

I was kind of pissed a while back, because poolcomps had a vote on which game they should add next. The categories were snooker, one-pocket and straight pool. Since there are a TON of Europeans on that site, they of course voted for snooker. It's extremely boring, and nobody really plays it whenever I go to the site. One pocket would have been alot more fun.

I remeber playing on that site a long time ago, they have come a long way. When my internet connection gets up to speed I will be back on there cracking heads, FEAR THEE "ASSMAN" he will return.

So if all these people are trying it out just for practicing and methodology and nobody is joining, how in the world are they getting the funding to award ten grand every week in prize money? That's a lot of dollars. They must have a powerful backer.

That's a lot more than most semi-pro tours hand out in a week. Somethin's fishy here...

I heard he is a nice guy too! ;)

I enjoyed our match also, I would like to see Snooker Tournaments also and I am sure that will come in the future. I think it is a great site.
