Anyone seen one of these machines yet.
I got a flyer in the mail today. It looks top notch all the way. If this machine works as good as it looks it will be worth whatever Joe is charging for it. I would like to see this machine in action before I drop the money for one.

I haven't seen it. It may be as nice as you say but it would have to just about cut and glue the wrap on itself to be any easier to use than the ones on the market now. The only way that i can see improvements made to the ones already on the market (I'm using a Unique, myself) is through lower prices, not that that would help me as these things will never wear out IMO.

I have sent each a copy of the file in e-mail to each of you. Let me know if it worked.

I received your e-mail and I agree that the machine is very impressive looking. I am also sure that this machine will do a fine job with leather wrap installs also. Now I could be wrong as this machine may even glue on the wrap but I'm pretty assured that this particular machine does the same as the others and that is to fit and cut the leather perfectly. It is for this reason that I stated earlier that what is actually needed is a lower priced unit. Hightowers unit is lower priced but what I've been told is that it needs to be used with his bed. I use the Unique which operates very similar to the DeAngelo and another new one that's been marketed lately. These are simple machines that work great. Porpers looks more complicated but for nearly twice the cost, does it actually do a better job? I can't imagine anything being easier to use than what's already on the market now, so as far as I'm concerned, it boils down to the lowest initial cost. If the machine actually does a better job in installation of a wrap then I am happy for all that get one as I'm already committed to the one I have.

I would like to see that kind of price. But it's never going to happen.
With all of the wrap jigs out there it is just a matter of choice and what one trips your trigger. Or works best for you. They all do the same job and very well.
It's just the same with a cue if you see that cue that just rock for you, you don't mind paying the price.
Some would be happy with that 50.00 cue then others want that cue that says ME ME ME all over it. Built by a true craftsman that puts his heart and sole into every cue he or she builds.

exactly right.what we need is a $200 jig,not a $700 jig.

The most important thing to leather is consistancy in thickness, Martin is on top of that, The next order I place for leather, will be with him. As far as leather fixtures, you have to find what comfortable for you, Just like building cues, Leather is not for everyone. I have friends who have had great results on Chris Hightowers, D'Angelo and Uniques. D'Angelo doesn't make them anymore so I can't see how you couldn't go wrong with the other two if you need a special jig. I think Lee has one also but I have never seen it.

I am getting the first one and it should be here this week.

Yes, the price is about $700 but at $100 per wrap, its pretty easy to make it back. I can do that in a week. This jig will, not only cut the seam, but cut the leather to length while on the cue. Looks slick to me.

I'll post pics as soon as I get it.

Most of the time I don't do leather at the EXPO because I am very slow at them. I have seen Steve L, and Jimmy R, do 3 or 4 to my 1. It takes me about one hour for a leather wrap. I can't tie up that much time on one thing at that show. I can do 4 linen wraps, 10 to 15 tips, 10 plus shaft cleanings, in that same time. If it slows down enough I will do them. I send all of my leather to them and they send me the linen work. It works out for both of us.

Why not buy direct from Porper? I know they ship throughout the world. Call Don and ask. If not, we (Muellers) can get one to you.
