Where to play? What do you recommend for a pool hall or just a good place to play with good competition. Mainly interested in good equipement e.g. (Diamond pro ams or well cared for Gold Crowns). Mahalo for you time. Carl
 
Wow, you did that all by your self? Ever been there before or have any relevent feed back to offer? Mahalo Carl :wink:

I don't know how far you want to drive, but here's a great room with Diamond tables with perfect Simonis cloth and (I believe) the new rail set-up by Real King Cobra. Owned and operated by Sal Butera who is a great guy and can flat out play:

I recommend Play Billiards in downtown Oxnard. They have a couple of tables that play nice and have 4" pockets.

Stiix Billiards in Ventura is a nice friendly spot with good equipment. The owner, Jerry Matchin, is a great host and very fine player.

Both of these places are my home rooms. Shoot me a PM if you'd like to meet up.

Pulldapin, sorry but I totally spaced on 8ballEinstein being in that area too. Glad he saw this thread. It's worth it to meet up with this guy just to have him show you his bag of interesting one pocket situation shots. It'll keep you riveted for hours, and there's a story behind every one of them. :grin-square:

I play out of this room...and I love it. They have weekly 9-ball tournaments on Tuesday night at 8 pm (big table), as well as bar table 8-ball tournaments on Saturdays at 1 pm. Thursday is their busiest night...so you might not get a table until after 9 pm.

But I believe that Play Billiards is closest to Port Hueneme...and it is a nice room as well. Owner Steve is a great guy.

Mahalo everyone, (including you schwartz) never knew how to do an internet seach before...wait a minute how did I find out about this sight, hmmm...I really appreciate the feed back and with any luck I'll hit the main 3 places I heard about. Aloha all and thanks again,

Just got back from Oxnard and Santa Paula for some work. I visited both Play Billiards (nice place) and Butera's Billiards (9 out of 10). My hat is off to Sal for the great little room he has put together. Got there about 9pm and started playing around 9:30. Glen, thank you for the great job on the tables as out here on Oahu we are lacking good equipement. Didn't shoot too good but as I had the table, of course some people asked if they could shoot with me. I accepted and enjoyed some very good company. All in all a great time in a great place.

Again Mahalo to Sal and his customers. Heres wishing you all the succsess you so aptly deserve. Carl
