Portable Repairs:

Just wanted to know if anyone would be willing to share Pictures of what they use/designed to do repairs:
I have designed this box to hold 90% of what I need to do repairs at the bars on League nights. It's just so
Heavy and difficult to get in and out of my F-150. I am a one man show! The Box has a set of wheels on one end
And a Sturdy handle on the other so I can pull it into the bars easily. I was thinking, this may sound crazy but here
goes... Get a Ambulance Gurney the ones that the legs fold up as it is put into the Ambulance. I could mount my repair
Equipment on it permanently and never have to pick it up. Just slide it off the truck and the legs drop down and push it
Into the bar and I'm ready to make fire wood...lol Here's some pictures of what I have.

Have you been reading Ted Harris' web site -he used that exact set up.

BTW - what ever happened to Ted?

Dale

Ted's alive and well in Hollywood, FL and is still using the gurney to haul around his setup. Of course, it is even easier now that he's been working out and lost about a hundred pounds! I would expect to see good things from the shop once again.

Here's my set-up. I have two rolling cabinets with two machines. Roll in. Roll out. Everything fits into a 5X8 trailer and the back of my super-cool minivan.

I'll tell you what, it is worth the extra money for plexi. The longer you get people to stand there and strike up conversations, the more money they spend. Especially when I do leather work. They love watching it. I always tell them halfway through that there will be a quiz at the end....

For my Mini Q Repair lathe I was going to Tig weld me up an aluminum cart with fold down, locking legs. The lathe with everything inside is approx 90lbs. Its just so bulky its hard to move alone.

I agree Ryan..if they can watch you work, they will stay more interested and possibly spend more money.

most people love to watch the stacked wrap go on

LOL...man you guys are way too big for a simple stop at league night for a few tips. While I don't own this lathe nor have I ever used one...it looks like a neat idea for the man who stops in multiple rooms nightly looking for tip work. I like the self contained toolbox idea. Many years ago I did do that very thing using Uniques excellent travel tipper. I kept it in a nice plastic footlocker style trunk with everything I needed...Find a power outlet and I was installing tips in about 90 seconds. There is a TON of money to be made for the man who is willing to hustle and drop into several rooms a night with a similar set up.

Really like your setup, Very neat and clean! but I do not have a trailer. (yet) so everythings gotta fit in the back of my F-150.

I see you have a Model B Q-Lathe, whats the other one? I'm hoping to get a Model B Q-Lathe (used) by Aug, Winter League starts up in Sep!

Oh they watch but I am not behind the glass so to speak. It hasn't bit me in the a$$ yet. I love to watch people cringe when I get the knife to trim a tip....

I'm going to check it out at Valley Forge. But looks like it will only do Shaft Work. Not sure about doing wraps and butt caps. you know how Bar Bangers like to slam the cues on the floor when the miss a shot. LOL
