Portland Oregon Pool?

My brother is a lawyer in Portland and now that his two daughters are away in college, he is interested in playing some tournaments or possibly leagues.
He has a 9 foot brunswick at home that he plays on occasionally.
He ran a 70 in straight pool last year.
He was the Purdue Collegiate Champ back around 1985 or so.


I said I would check out on AZB for any tournaments for him. Anybody have any good leads? Any straight pool being played out there?

Have your brother check out the regional pool newspaper. Its http://www.onthebreaknews.com/ and it has listings of a lot of local weekly tournaments and larger weekend tournaments.

Call Classic Billiards. The owner Paul is a real pool fan and I amdsure will be willing to point him in the right direction. Wewere just at his place a few weeks ago. Has a 12ft Snooker table too

Sams in the hollywood district had a straight pool tour once a month, not sure if its still going. nice place, but pool is just so dead, everywhere.

If he ever makes it down to Southern Oregon we'd love to see him stop in at Rack 'em Billiards in Medford. We have a great straight pool group, including a 25 player league similar to that at IBC, and a bunch of 14.1 lovers that will give him games the whole time he's here. Our own Mike Jones ran a 116 the other day on a tough Diamond. In Portland, I agree with Mark, check with Paul at Classic Billiards, and Sam's in the Hollywood district about their monthly 14.1 tournament.

The only straight pool tourneys here are at SAM's, that I know. He might be able to find a straight pool game at Rialtos, Classics or more likely, SAM's. I haven't played straight pool too much, but I'd love to play. Have him send me a pm
