Since most only focus on negative posts on custom cue makers tell your positive dealings with cue makers the three that stick out in my mind are

Keith Josey had him make a style he does not commonly make and I have to say its the best playing cue I ever owned, did not have to wait forever and it was priced very well.

Barry Szamboti was very upfront on wait time cue was a stunner included and extra shaft with a variaton of the ring work of the other shafts a true artist

Tim Padgett best customer service I have ever seen from a cuemaker sent many updates of cue progress without being requested nice guy to deal with

Ya got my dittos on Keith Josey...no experience with Barry or Tim,
so not mentioning them was in no way meant as denigration.

Dale Perry.

Recently took the plunge after reading the about his cues. Great service so far the cue looks great.

He takes the time to taper the shaft to your liking and adjusting the weight to your preference.

Kikel Cues!

I have just received a new Kikel Cue. The ENTIRE experience with Dave Kikel was smooth sailing in every respect. Dave was on time as he has been every single time I have done business with him. His work is flawless and his cues play fantastic. He has been around for a long time and I personally have had nothing but excellent business dealings with him. I should take a moment to Thank Jamie Wernsman for selling me my first Kikel Cue which is how I got introduced to Dave. Great businessman, great cuemaker!

A pair in Florida

Chris Nitti and Paul Dayton are both excellent cue makers and a real pleasure to deal with

Highly recommend both

Jerry Rauenzahn

Just had a Converted BBC 26.5 returned from Jerry. I had a Email or phone call about once a week, with updates, til the cue was finished. Great communications. Charlie D

i had several awesome experiences dealing with jack madden, for new cues and getting old cues repaired/refinished....

one of the nicest and most honest people i ever met..

chris

Leon Sly - great customer service and awesome playing cues. Super Nice fellow.

Mike Lambros - very nice and accomodating. Cue was delivered is said time and followed up with me to see how I liked it. My current player cue....

Paul Mottey - ordered my first high end cue from him 10 years ago. I got it 1 year later and still kick myself to this day for selling it. Super guy to deal with and the cue was unbelievable.

Barry Moore built me a custom shooter...great experience. He helped me select every piece of the cue from tip to butt cap to give me the play I wanted, and I got progress pics every step of the way. It was ready in the projected time window, and he called me the next day to check if I was satisfied after playing with it.

I will second this only to add I sold my Mottey to get the Lambros.

I have two custom cues from Paul Sumrall at S&S cues (posts here as godofthunder I believe). He was very responsive, communicative, and professional. Also, his cues play mighty fine if I do say so:thumbup:

I have a bunch of custom cues made. Jerry -R- was by far one of the best.

Arnot Wadsworth - He knows why. Suffice it to say he's patient and kind. Too bad he doesn't make cues anymore, I have a new project.

Alex Brick has Custom Built several Cues for me
(to My design and specifications) over the past 14
years. Each and every Cue looks and plays great,
and all remain dead straight after many years of
play. Alex is a True Craftsman, his word is his bond,
and he delivers on time and in budget. His Customer
Service is impeccable.

I must also mention my friend, David Jacoby, a True
Gentleman and Great Cuemaker. We have many, many
"deals" on record and I always look forward to seeing
him at BCA Las Vegas.

I like this thread very much! Informative of who the good guys of cue making are, with no bickering.

Jim Baxter

So... after several dozen different customs throughout the years, i must say Jim Baxter is WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT, the most accomodating cue maker that i have EVER dealt with. He was not only accomodating, but i had DAILY emails from Jim keeping me up to date on the progress of my cue, at every single step along the way (pics included). Granted this may not be the standard operating procedures for one of his builds, but if he only did 10% of the communication that i recieved, that would still top the list of any other dealing that i have had with a maker.

my honest opinion... Mr. Baxter is the most under-rated maker out there at the moment. Top notch quality, fast responses, and SUPER nice guy!!!

I "2nd" that Nomination ...

Jim Baxter is a Great Guy and a True Craftsman .
Just wait 'til you see the Beauties he is working on now !!!

Jim Baxster sure did a great job on my joint protectors. Matched my Josey's colors & trim exactly, with an amazingly fast turnaround time. :)
