Possible millions in pricemoney in a new World 8-ball Tour!!!

www.poolpok.com

I think the world is big and maybe if I work hard anough I will find the right amount of players.
You know I'm just trying, I'm not good onough to play big money against Chris for exemple, so I do something else.

All the best,

Vincent,

Good idea Vincent!

I think it's a clever way to bring money in pool events, and it will enable the possibility for other players to win a lot, and not necessarily word champions.

The only problem, I guess, is that you won't be able to verify that the player who is behind his coputer will be the one who'll play pool...

By the way, good luck for your project, I've already suscribe :)

Vincent,

what poker site, YOU CAN USE POKER STARS FOR TOURNAMENTS JUST HAVE A PASSWORD.

Given the basic pyramid similarities to the IPT venture, I suppose just one of the key questions Vincent has already asked himself is......

"By using poker as the qualifying medium instead of pool can I multiply the painfully small number number of qualifier entrants that the IPT managed to attract by a huge enough factor to give a much more solid financial platform from which to then launch the sale of advertising opportunities and to demonstrate to the poker outfit and to others that the number of new clients attracted to their products will justify any investment by them?"

Taking a (perhaps simplistic but have to start somewhere) view that the prize money would need to be funded by entrants and that the operating costs, staging costs of pool events, profit for the organiser etc would all come out of sponsorship and advertising income etc it would need nearly 182,000 entrants paying 44 euros each to fund the prize money for the first year.

On the negative front have to say that seems an ambitious target and it would be surprising if 182,000 people are willing to do that whilst knowing that it is inevitable that many top 8 ball players, if they do not have the poker ability themselves, will find a way to team up with someone better capable than they are of winning an online poker qualifier and take over themselves at the pool playing stage. This is a huge potential hitch for this tournament concept in both a practical and moral sense and is one which may also have potential knock-on effects for the attitude of potential sponsors/advertisers.

On the more positive side the entry fee is far more manageable than the IPT's was and thus greatly helps the prospects of getting the numbers, especially people who would enter more than one qualifier per year.

On the "not really sure if it's postive or negative front" the venture is not almost exclusively geared towards USA venues like IPT which clearly never had any intention of operating outside USA as they never got round to even booking the first overseas venue. This has possible negative aspects for large scale American participation as to put it bluntly Americans traditionally haven't seemed over-keen on the concept of entering qualifiers for events that will require travel to overseas tournament venues for finals. However it also has positive aspects in the sense that there is nevertheless a very large target population of poker/pool players in USA and the size of the prize fund even down at the lower finishing places will hopefully overcome much of the traditional travel reluctance due to anticipated expenses.

Are there any current restrictions or legal issues around USA citizens participating in online poker gambling operated by companies outside USA or in transferring funds by bank/credit card etc to online poker gambling sites operated overseas?

Good luck with this Vincent.

Vincent,
Are you already planning the different dates for this event?
2010?
I agree with the fact that your idea is a good way to bring money and players into the Pool community.
For example, here in France, Pool isn't well known as a sport. I don't know about other countries, but in some of them, Pool is a sport practiced by lots of people.
so many countries, so many customs!
I think that this new concept will help Pool to be recognized all around the World.
Poker is played everywhere nowadays, and associating these two is a good way to help people who don't know Pool to get familiar with it.
I hope people will enjoy this new concept.

Yeah...this is a real winner. You're recommending that pro players CHEAT by hiring someone to pose as them online...what a great concept, and strikes at the heart of why pro pool gets no corporate support. Geez...gotta vote that concept down, from the get go.

If Souquet and Archer really wants a spot, which I think they will, let them hire a pokerplayer to log in to their name and try to qualify for them.

Dear Mike,

Thank you for your post and for the answer of your question: the thing is that you are paying to enter a pool tournament, then you play the qualification round playing poker and yet no money, you win money only by playing pool. You have to show up and play at the pool tournament to be able to win the money.
So I have no problem with the american's or any other country because it's online poker qualifications not gambling.

Please feel free to ask questions if you need exlainations,

All the best,

Vincent,
