I have an unused set of Raschig balls that are a bit unusual. They were made by Raschig apparently to look like the Brunswick Centennial balls. The box that they come in is brown and states "Raschig Dekorit." Does anyone know how many sets of these balls were made? I may eventually sell them but have no idea as to their value. Thanks! Of course the white dots on the balls are reflection from the camera.

These balls are definitely Raschig, as I bought them about 20 years ago directly from a Raschig authorized dealer (Dufferin!). By the way, I am familiar with those Raschig balls currently on ebay...because they're mine!

You do not know the value but you set a price on Ebay?, are you just fishing?, well what you want and what they are worth is 2 different things. Put them on Ebay with no reserve and see what people pay for them then you will have a better idea of what they are worth. They are a nice set though.

I have a set of balls, minus the 12 that looks like those above. The darts are not as sharp as centennials and the 6 and 9 balls have a straight rather than curved lines under them. Does anyone know if the old centennials looked like this, or did they always have curved lines? Were the darts always sharp or were the older ones more rounded? Maybe I have the same set mentioned here.....?

LOL you got him! Thats pretty funny, I didnt catch it at first myself.

I agree though they are some good looking balls. I like this style with the black circles rather than the cheap ones you see on barboxes. I bought a cheap set on eBay that look like the Centennials but were only $40 something bucks and looked more like the older generation balls than these new ones do. They havent cracked or chipped and have been played a ton so I got my moneys worth. We bang 'em around w/the measles ball (it cost almost as much as the set did) and they roll just as good as the balls that came with his table.

No I am not fishing on ebay. I placed the value at what I will sell them for. I may consider less, but not much. I noticed that the same balls sold here in the $425 range. Note that I will not receive my asking price once ebay and paypal take their share. That's why I placed them higher on ebay than if I sell them here. I would make more here selling them for $425 than ebay for $475.

The balls in question are night and day different than Centennials. Pictures don't do them justice. The Dufferin rep I bought them from did say that not many of these Centennial style Raschigs were made. Attached is the front and back of a brochure I received when I purchased the Raschig balls.

The burnswick centennial balls have the numbers not on the stripe I believe at least

Good point....makes me think mine are an older set of centennials, the more rounded points are throwing me off though.

Raschig

A little research found the company to be out of West Germany in the late 80's. I found a picture of a set of their balls for sale on Ebay. They do not have the "darts" on the numbers. I'm inclined think you have a set of centennials in a raschig box. They are asking $450 for the ones on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120735596822&clk_rvr_id=238839428330

Nope. Those are Raschigs for sure. I've had several sets like the ones in the promo picture, without the black rings, and still have one. The colors and design are different from centennials, but look just like the ones in the pic, except for the rings. They were great balls we had in the early
90s, but heard they weren't imported anymore after that. Dufferin was the distributor at that time. I haven't seen the ones with the black rings and darts before and I'll bet they are pretty rare. An unused set may well be worth $450. They also made a 9-ball set, by the way, which had no numbers on the balls, in case you ever run across one of those.

Interestingly, I have a second set of "regular" Raschigs as pictured in the Dufferin brochure, where the cue ball has a small circle on it. My other set doesn't have a cue ball with a circle. I remember asking the Dufferin rep if the Centennial style Raschig balls was a copyright violation. He said that Raschig is in West Germany, and they can do whatever they want!

However, I have seen a set of Brunswick Centennial balls where the the numbers, including the circles and darts, were in the stripes! They were apparently made in very small amounts by Hyatt of Albany, NY and the owner said they may have been called "Royal" Centennials. Of course, when Hyatt went out of business, Brunswick got Aramith to start making Centennials. But as I understand, it took Aramith a while to achieve Brunswick's specs. I don't think Aramith has ever made any Royal Centennials.

Raschig also made a 9 ball set without any numbers. I think they did this because, as accurate as Raschigs are, not having any numbers made them even more accurate. It's probably mentioned in their 9 ball brochure, but I can't read it because it's in German! Attached is a photo of my Raschig 9 ball set and the brochure.

I want a 9-ball set really bad. They are beautiful.
