Not having a posted price is at times annoying, but in some circumstances I can understand why. But IMO what is much more annoying is when asked for their price, the seller says...."well, I don't know, make me an offer". At any rate, not having pics or a posted price would not deter me from seeking out additional info if it is something I really want.

I might be the reason for the thread as I complain about this practice.

But as Sean points out, I do (cant believe I admit it) PM for a price on something that I really want.

GRRRR!

I prefer a seller post pictures, price and description. It usually seems like when a seller doesn't post a price he probably wants too much for the cue and not sure if he can get the price he wants, so he waits for offers and then makes a determination on what he's willing to sell for or not sell at all. It can be a real time waster for buyers.

On high end cues and special collector cues like Szamboti,Searing,Showman, Hercek, etc. cues, I can understand about not including price and let the buyer and seller negotiate accordingly.

Auction style sale would not require a price unless there is a reserve.

For me it depends on what's being sold. I've been wanting a plain jane Josswest for a while now. When I saw one come up with no pics or price, naturally I was interested.

Tire kickers

There was a fellow here and I havent seen him for a while, but anyway he would always want more pics and on and on.

I guess my point, I jumped through a many a hoop to have him tell me it weight too much (or too little), wrong tip, whatever. Something that REALLY didnt amount to a hill of beans.

I mean, if it has the wrong tip on a $2K cue who really cares?

IF YOU ARE PMing ME ABOUT SENDING MORE PICS ON A CUE I HAVE FOR SALE, AND JUST WANT PICS FOR PICS TELL ME, BUT IF YOU WANT PICS TO DETERMINE IF YOU REALLY, REALLY WANT THE CUE FEEL FREE.

UGH!

Market value

How are us novices to learn about pricing cues and market value, unless someone posted a picture and price. Not that I have anything worth selling on this site, but I like to know how things get valued in the real world.....
Man, I wish I purchased a X?x# load of those Brunswicks Hoppe?s, when Kmart went out of business in my neighborhood, I be sitting pretty now on that investment?

the reason for posting this poll was because i see too many ripping a seller for not posting an add in the manner "they" (the too many ripping the seller) would want rather than maybe sending a PM to them outside the thread offering their suggestions or just moving on. imo EVERY seller does have the right to post a sale in the way they want but the trend has shown, at least from those who have responded so far to the poll, that more would completely disregard the sellers post if the price and or pics were omitted from a "for sale" add even if the seller puts instructions on how to obtain all relevant info. now i truly believe this is all a bunch of bunk and think most would not "completely disregard" the sale but if it were true, it actually makes me kinda' happy. it tells me that the "fickle" side of the majority from this site outweigh their desire to actually acquire an item they would "normally" be interested in. it would leave more "diamonds in the rough" so to speak, for those who actually care about getting what they want and not those who would rather complain over the way it was listed. i guess it's kinda like "to the victor go the spoils" or "ya' snooze ya loose" sort of thing. ya' know when i used to trade at Chicago Board of Trade i was taught to NEVER let any piece of info slip by you, analyze everything and go the next step if it's what you want. well it's obvious, and a shame to me that so many here are willing to forgo what they want because of something as trivial as having to make another step to get it. you can dislike it all you want but to not even consider an item because of that leads me to believe you never really wanted the item in the first place.

In the same token, if you really wanted to sell the piece, you would post pictures and a price. It's a two way street. Some people don't want to take the extra step to the sale. It's not about being fickle, how about some courtesy to the other party and post a price or pic or both.
Or maybe there is no pic because the item isn't what is being described. Again depending upon which side of the transaction you are sitting on, will govern your train of thought.

If a person post's a cue with the intent of selling it, I would have to believe that that person already has a price in mind for the cue. So why not post the price and start from there? What is the problem?

The only thing I can think of as to why a poster doesn't post the price is b/c he is expecting someone to over-bid the cue. This in itself makes potential buyers back away.

gotta have pics and price, i can understand there not being any pics if the person doesn't know how to post them but there is no reason a price can't be there, this isn't a friggin pawnshop

No buy anyway if I dont know you! This place is worse then ebay

No pic's,no price, ....no problem:D If I really want it 'll ask. What bother's me more is cues for sale posted by one peson that doesnt even own the cue or have it. I can see if the owner isnt computer savy but I see alot of cues passed around from one seller to another to see who gets lucky.

Exactly...

Seller: South West cue, 356-05, paid 2000.00 wants 2500.00. Would take less. But ad says make offer.

Buyer: Wants SW cue, see's ad, offers 1800 cause he has no idea of a starting price. But would pay 2200.00 if he found the right cue.

Seller: Declines, because he thinks the offer is two low. Feels the separation in numbers doesn't warrant a counter, but might take 2200 if it was offered.

Game over... I would wager that better than 75% of no price ad's end this way.

Who cares?

It's suppose to be depressed market where no one is forking over decent $$$$ for a cue anyway ....

So why should a seller make any effort to sell????

Some people don't want to take the extra step to the sale. for anyone who wants something there should be no boundary on what it takes to get it, especially if it only requires an "extra step" or two It's not about being fickle, how about some courtesy to the other party and post a price or pic or both. courtesy??? imo the seller sells it his way for whatever reason. he's already giving the "courtesy" that it's now available for sale for someone else to enjoy and gives instructions on how to 'learn" more about it and how to obtain it
Or maybe there is no pic because the item isn't what is being described. Again depending upon which side of the transaction you are sitting on, will govern your train of thought. my "train of thought" is if i want it i do what the seller asks within reason and having to respond with a Pm or email is a small price to pay for a "diamond" and even you can't argue with that.

Joe

being a seller who deals with main stream collectors i would think you'd have sympathy for this argument but what do i know right....

some of them don't "have" to sell. they might be testing the market waters so to speak. i see nothing wrong with that. but in most cases they just ask for a pm or email to acquire pics and price. i don't see the issue.

You're absolutely right .. they can sell anyway they want to and buyer can pass on any potential they want to. Now if the seller is interested in "marketing" then they can try to accommodate the potential market.

and i agree. but my poll question is, is not putting pics and/or price in an add grounds for someone completely disregarding the sale. i would bet that over 95% of those really interested in buying the advertised item would go the "extra" step and those not may pass it up because their curiosity is the main thing driving them, not the desire for the item.

my opinion is let people sell the way they feel comfortable, there ways may hinder or help there sale but it is up to the seller!
