posting someone else's eBay listing thread

Well the TERM "you" soulds like you are Singling me out.
Otherwise I call it D I S C R I M I N A T ION......

Actually, by calling you out specifically for your actions is why it's NOT discrimination....

But your paranoia is nonetheless humorous :p :D

well everywhere you buy stuff is like that..who doesn't want to pay a good price on cue and all kind of stuff that peoples want..but again
if peoples love the item or peoples realy look into the item they will pay the price if your really a pool player or anything u woudn't mind paying for the price of what you really love..

we pay our price for the cue and we dont complain so pay that little extra you gonna blame peoples because the price is a bit high?

I agree with Jazz. If it's your item, or a freinds, = pimp it here on AZ. If it's not, your only helping a non AZer sell something. If it's a " good deal", buy it yourself on e-bay and sell it on here, that way 2 AZers win. You get to make a couple bucks for noticing a bargan and another AZer gets a good deal from a reputable seller. I frequently pay a couple extra $ to a reputable AZer. At the same time, I shy away from those with suspect ratings/rep on AZ.
thanks-jeff

i know why you are bumping this thread,Wes Hunter on Ebay.you and i cost each other about $100 on that one i bet, after all is said and done.

I whole heartly agree with this thread, if its not yours then don't post it. I will sometimes post a link to an outreagous listing , like some rare/antique item with a 5 figure price tag or a totaly bogus item. but I refrain from posting good deals.

I'll go against the grain here and disagree. I don't think we can create a "gray" area and say it is ok to do it for a friend or other AZ member but not for anyone else. Isn't posting a thread about a good deal on Ebay sort of the same thing as posting a thread about a friends cue? You are still trying to help other members in general or you are trying to help drive up the price of a friends cue. Ebay isn't a secret anymore. I would say that most of the buyer/sellers on here check Ebay daily anyhow and know when a cue is a good deal or not. The guys who complain about this topic are probably the same ones who constantly send low-ball offers to other sellers:eek: and try to get something under value. There is nothing wrong with someone getting a fair price for what they are selling. If you pay more than what it costs new or pay more than what you feel it is worth then shame on you...jmo

I don't see anything wrong with a buyer trying to get the best price possible on a purchase. When you go to a car dealership...do you pay window sticker price or do you negotiate? After all, The seller has the option to accept or decline any offer.

This is personal pet peeve of mine but I still don't understand why people post eBay listings where they are not the seller and have no interest in the cue.

To quote Von Rhett, "If it's your cue, fine. Or your best friends. Or you have some other legitimate reason why you should be pointing it out - fine. Like alerting teh AZ Community that a cue is a scam."

I guess I don't see it as a "public service" since they don't know the cue or the seller.

I'm being selfish, but at times I like to pick up a cue for cheapest price possible, do my homework and do not want additional competition.

If I'm selling on eBay and wanted additional exposure, I'd post a thread here. If I was the seller on eBay and also a member of AZ community, I'm fairly sure I don't want someone else to announce my listing here before I do.

Just venting ...

Most of the time there is a question or controversy involved. I dont remember many posting someone else ebay listings for no reason. I wouldnt care for that either. but its pretty uncommon as far as i know? I do it when something is odd or may be a scam.for example, What the heck is this thing realy??

Jayman.

I don't see where I said there is anything wrong with it either, do you? I said I don't see anything wrong with a seller trying to get a FAIR price for what they are selling. Fair and sticker price may be the same thing but not necessarily. I never said there was anything wrong with negotiating a purchase price either. Fair is the key word here. Concentrate on FAIR.

If you negotiate with a seller for a lower price on his item... is this FAIR or low balling?

The cue rotates both ways

Well, I have seen a lot of $2,000 cues here and there, that would only be worth $750-800 dollars to me. I see a lot Merry Widows that are overpriced.

On the other hand if you see a $400-500 cue, and you are sneak in to buy it for $325, then someone posting the auction of here ruins your action (does that term ring a bell???), and it ends up going for $600 to someone else.

If you had a $100 a set game made, would you appreciate a better player coming in and taking your action away from you which the better player got the news from a 3rd party???

For me, if I post on something my friend is listing (or anyone else I know), I'm putting up my reputation on the line. I wouldn't promote anyone else's sale unless I believe in them or the cue. If one is posting some random eBay listing, then the poster doesn't really know anything about a seller or the cue.

Yup ... that's me.

So now you want rules that you can't post about a cue for sale unless it's your's or someone you know? Please...........

No I am not surethat will make everyone happy either, as I posted for a friend his one of a kind Bender who was not a Forum Member, had no desire to join a Forum, but had a very unique Cue for sale. There was a lot of moaning about that.

Funny thing is the Cue was SOLD to a Forum Member in Louisiana who was apparently totally elated with the Cue.

I think we all know the difference between a low-ball offer and a fair market value offer

Totally agree!!! STOP CUE-BLOCKING!!!

Yes, I totally agree. It is all about reputation. When you post something here, you are connecting yourself with the listing - WHETHER YOU MEAN TO OR NOT!!! Some people might think the Ebay seller is reputable, and that the cue is exactly as listed, since a certain AZB'r posted it. It is a fine line to walk. What if the cue is bought on ebay by a fellow AZB'r, and they are scammed? Do you want to put your rep on the line for an unknown seller, because you promoted it?? This might be dramatic, but it is true. You are what you post!! Maybe rep doesn't mean anything to some, but we are a community that should be looking out for each other. So buy the cue at a sweet deal on Ebay, and sell it here yourself, and make the money.

Or do we need another section here on AZB - "Steals on Ebay - not sure who will be robbed - SELLER OR BUYER?"

JMHO, and I will never post a "STEAL" on ebay that isn't my own, or somebody I know and can trust, so that it has a better chance of not being a STEAL.
More power to the guys who can research Ebay all day long and find the bargains - Don't Hate the player and don't be a cue-blocker!!!

Michael

I agree

I agree with you but at the same time I am a cue junkie and like to meander around looking at everything possible. I look on Ebay and on AZ so I suppose I am just like a dog chasing it's tail. So, I agree.
