Pots and Pans

Mr Rogoff was there for Johnson City. He tells interesting stories about Lassiter and other past champions. He still bets and pays when he loses. He's an odd fellow, to say the least, but he likes to make people smile. Good in my book.

Years back he carried dheap sets of pots and pans in his car pretending to be a salesman while hustling pool.

He came into town many moons ago, called and I sent him to a pool room where I didn't really think there would be much for him, but it was far accross town and I figured he would be occupied and I wouldn't have to entertain or babysit him or his wierd partner, Dave Nottingham.

The next thing you know, I get a call from the owner asking if I know this character or anything about him. I pleaded innocence and sked what was going on. He informed he was playing 8 ball with a guy for $300 a game and was kicking ass.

I drove over there and sure enough he was going through his druink ACT and stall and was up about $1500 against a guy who wouldn't water iss wet.

I saw him do this several times over the next week and heardd many sotries of him and his ability to firstly get people to play who never step up and secondly bet it up where they never have before.

He was quite entertaining.

Ironman,

Rogoff used to actually stock up and peddle his cheap stuff to hair salons, bars etc. He caught many a bar owner who, just to shut him up, would put up good money against his "Deluxe" set of pot's and pans, at a game of pool. He got his foot in many a door that way back then. Saw him in Phx 3 mos. ago at the Desert Shoot out. He's still at it, and he's still a character. Used to play Charlie Chaplin in night clubs too.

Bunny is one of the few old timers still around. He goes back to the glory days of Mosconi and Fats. He knew all the old time hustlers. In fact, he was one of them. Don't think for a minute this guy couldn't play. I think he even won the Super Seniors at the BCA a few years back.

I first saw him at Johnston City in the early 60's and he was one of the "boys", hanging with Red and Shorty and all the other outlaws. Bunny was actually a bellman at one of the big Miami Beach hotels back then. He's no dummy either. Bunny has held onto some of his winnings. He's not broke like a lot of other hustlers ended up. He can pay his own way.
