power breaking 101

Just remember that you should never sacrifce accuracy for power. Some players have that one in a million dead on accuracy, some don't. I'm the the latter category. You don't need to crush the balls to get a good result. You need to make contact with the rack, make a ball, get a good spread of the pack, and get your cue ball free. SMashing the rack to smithereens is only intimidating if you can run out with the result of that type of break. One time on live television, Roger Griffis made 5 balls on the break and didn't get out. I've seen stuff like that occur many times with high power/high velocity breaks.

Watch players like Buddy Hall, Mike Sigel, Alex Pagualayan, Corey Deul, Allen Hopkins, Francisco Bustamante, and the late Tony Ellin. You will see contrasting break styles and how different methods and mechanics work for different players of different body types. Above all else, find what works for you consistently.

Because they usually don't have 250+ posts of drivel regarding how they chose their username, or with a link to youtube that has more than likely been discussed in the past on numerous occassions....

or - "why can't we bet on stuff like anna nicole's baby-daddy" in the vbookie thread... Newsflash - the same thing was asked just a few threads down!

You irritate me. That's why.

this guy shatters the rack

Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it.

There are always new people drifting into this forum so it doesn't hurt to go over old topics on occassion.

Of course, what Blackjack said is right, regarding accuracy on the break. In fact, I don't think really powerful breaking in 9-ball is much benefit at all, but I think it was a big advantage on the IPT 8-ball set up.

For those who lack power and want to know some of the biomechanics behind producing more power, I think that video introduction was quite useful for.
