practice drills

After watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiKEJKblwMc

I started doing the same drill. Haven't mastered it, but I'm working on it. Looking for more recommended drills :)

thanks

Not sure what kind of drill you are looking for but if you are looking to refine your stroke this is my go to. Learned it from that full length instructional video on YouTube (I forget the name... Maybe billiard x or something).

One after another put a ball on the spot and go through your whole preshot routine shooting said ball directly into one of the far corner pockets. Make sure that your tip stops on the cloth whether you are striking the top, middle, or bottom of the cueball. Don't put the tip on the cloth after your stroke has finished... It needs to naturally land there at the end of the stroke. Once the stroke is done remain in your finished position for 3 seconds. Repeat for a couple racks worth of balls. Technically you are supposed to do this drill several hundred times before shooting a normal game as it basically reworks your whole stroke.

I always go back to this drill whenever I develop a weird hitch in my stroke. It's simple but very effective in developing the muscle memory required so that in a match your mind stops getting in the way.

I like to shoot for different parts of the pocket and not just concentrate on hitting center pocket every time.

That drill is similar to Kinister's "the Ladder". I also like Kinister's 6 point & 9 point Star. The Mighty "X" is a great stroke builder.

I agree, all great drills, the ladder especially if you're a 9 ball player

I too use this drill for my stroke, it can be found here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pm-VDuGzJS4, as well as many other drills.

Buy the new training video with Appleton. Not only does he show 10 or so excellent drills, he goes through each of them discussing each shot. $20 is very reasonable for this IMHO.

IMHO if you are willing to put the time into doing drills, you will find your game will improve a ton. Good luck with your game.

Some practice #1

After some guys have been asking for some training shots, I like to let you participate on some great stuff that helped me getting more consistent over the years.
Here are the 12 standard shots that come up in some training booklets...

...wether you do them all for instance 5 left/5 right side (successful shots) each time, or maybe just 1 shot a day 50 times including mistakes (left/right side) – it may help you also:

I might print these off if you don't mind unless you have them in pdf format?

Pdf

Feel free to use them, I've created them to do so! More upcoming in a few days.

If you need a bigger format, I could send PDFs by email! No problem.
Just be a little patient, if I can't reply in between 24 hours...
