Practice practice practice

Time! Just checking for a typical session. Right finished with 13-8 victory. Moving the brag score to 28-27.

In the video Barry Gives an incredible demonstration of the mechanics.
Does not include the first steps but I will bet they are somewhere in 150+ video he has made available.

Survey and assessment: Sitting I take preliminary survey, noting conditions and potential problems and escapes. Know it can and most likely will be different, if I get to shoot.
Upon taking the table, a lap around is a good habit. I hold the cue at the balance point, flexing the gripping fingers. Giving those small muscles a gentle stretch and flex.
Once I determine where I want the foundation. My habit has me relaxing the fingers and allow the barrel of the cue to fine tune the alignment. I like the baby bird I was taught a long time ago.

I like to let the cue tip wave back and forth, almost like witching water. Once it settles on the aiming line, I plant the tripod.

Part of my Witless protection program: To be honest with you is the opening line of the YouTube gods selection for me.
Soo today's flavor is observation of a lot by watching.🤷
My fitness program needs to be physically and mentally challenged.😉

Through practice honing the skills that will justify the courage and confidence.
Sparring with a partner helps build the courage. Learning to fight.🤷

Being a slow starter can pay the prize money to the tortoise.
My slow start has me at address, squatting down just like the umpire looking over my shoulder when I was 8. Just checking the alignment for the direct hit. I like to take the center-center line to infinity. Then rise and play the shot. Kind of a trick to get the Yoga Yogi.

My next Yogi Yoga move: At address turn the torso through the neck to look back at the Umpire and ask, "WHAT!?".

On a roller, the next form, I call the foul tip. Used to be the Crane.😉
At address just raise the foot that was struck by the (imagination)ball. Flex it and shake it out without showing pain. As always, then play the shot.

The Hat as a training tool:
Baseball cap, can be adjusted to create blinders at different elevations.
Taking the hint from the sun glimmer through odd little holes in the handmade recycled screen.😉 I Doned my hat. With the brim set to allow view of the table. Well in upright stance I first employed after reading Mosconi pamphlet.🤷
My zone is the felt. When in the zone. ..... things just work.
Now I can compare results by using old vs new and hope improved. The brim at that elevation allows top of cue ball only, with my snooker stance. So faith in the early steps is required.
An interesting comparison and amusing.

Analogys are like statistics. Lies, damn lies and statistics .😉
Mine is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid vs Quigley Down Under.
The upright Mosconi stance was a necessity in the Hole In The Wall tavern environment. 🤷
Never said I couldn't.

gregcantrall, Howdy;

I have used the "Mosconiesq" stance since I began playin' pool back in '61.
Now, if I don't, I don't as if I'll get back up or not. chucklin'

Hey Hank👍. '61!;;!?!! Eeek.👍 I may have seen a pool table in '61😉
I think it was '74 when I made a pool table and got the Willie pamphlet. 17 times champ, can't argue with that. The 8 ball break was the monitarily plus from the pamphlet. 8 ball break kitties and even one place that gave a steak sandwich for 8 ball break. More than once I won the tournament with the 8 ball break. Nice little bump to first place money .
I so learned watching Cole get down.😉 He was real close to my age. (Will be 69+2 in October, late.. I am one of Those.🤷)

So now when my chin touches the cue... I am in take a nap mode. Cole's stance was such that if he passed out. Gravity would take him through the ball.

Still the Slow Kiss

Center to center to center: Finding my. Center is preliminary. So the Hat Heal, raising the leg to simulator of address to kick the shot. However high that might be. The Get it up challenge. Just getting the foot high enough. Just the pose.🤷 Then stride into the stance.

My center cubed practice has my baseball cap just above the glasses. I am accustomed to looking over them in the final aim. So using my plumb bob to set the tri-pod. Then the line is set , the only thing to look at is the path of the tip through the ball. Surprise can be fun.🤷

A Little Bird 🐦 Tells:
When I am setting the first leg, I let the little bird in my gripping hand set the stance. From the hip .
I like to do my balance form work, placing my foot on the plane of centers. The plane catching my ankle, belly button and chin. The plane initiated by the center to center line object ball through cue ball.
The stride is with the front foot. I used to think of setting the rear first. Well I still do. Just the stride with the front foot is preliminary and allows for small adjustment... The Duck Waddle is ok in practice, even encourage. The thought of doing it in public motivation to practice, practice, practice. My preference for Pool name is Kicks Like A Mule, over Waddles Like A Duck..... just sayin'🤷
