My aunt is 78 years old, and she is not doing well. She took a turn for the worst today. This has been really rough on my family. She was in a nursing home for over 2 months and lost over 40lbs. She is now back at home and on hospice. Anyone who is familiar with that knows it is just not good at all. She is on bed rest and is not allowed to walk around. I spent about 3 hours with her today. It was so sad because she was talking jibberish. She is in a total state of dimensia. Please keep your fingers crossed for a miracle. Thanks.
Hello, you and your family will be in our prayers here in Lakewood, Washington at Full Splice Billiards.
Please also let me offer the following advice. When you have the time too, spend it with her. Hold her hand, and talk to her the way you normally would. Do not treat her different than before, she needs your strength, and you do not know for certain what she actually understands. While she is unable to communicate, this is not proof that she can not hear and completely understand what is being said to her.
When people are close to the end sometimes they will just give up. The love she receives during these trying times alone can make the difference between life and death. Take the time necessary to help her and support her through this difficult situation. If things continue to turn for the worst, do not be surprised if she suddenly becomes alert and able to communicate. In many cases people will regain their mental faculties just before it is time to pass.
I lost my Mother last October, after a battle with health issues. I spent the last three weeks of her life with her and I was at her bed side when the time came. All the things I am speaking about are from my experience with my mothers recent death.
Last of all, by handling things in this manner you will have no regrets if the worst happens.
Hope this helps, and have a good night!!!!!
