Pre-Flag Blue Master Chalk For Sale

I received my chalk today.
The chalk he is selling looks and feels just like the two cubes of preflag I've had in
my bag for 20 years (I dont play much anymore :-) )

The flagged chalk I have seems a little grittier to me.

Just my observation.

Thanks for the chalk

Authentic Pre-Flag

I have some more pictures to back up the authenticity of the chalk I am selling. Here I compare it directly to "post-flag" Master.

The first picture is with no flash, under the same lighting as as the original pictures. It shows the differences in the "start holes".

The second picture, with flash, shows the older stuff being a lighter shade of blue than the newer.

edit; notice the difference in the background color. It's the same background, different lighting.

I have also been using it for years. IMHO - the difference is most
noticeable when the humidity is high.

I got my pre flag master chalk in yesterday. This batch is older than the last pre flag master chalk that was made. I am basing it on personal experience. I bought a couple of gross right after the formula change and it had the shallow tip groove in the top. This chalk has the deeper drilled looking tip groove in the top. The formula change did happen in pre flag master chalk for a time before they added the flag. But when I noticed the formula change was when they started using the shallow tip groove. I talked to my supplier about the change and he explained that Tweeten said they had to quit using heavy metals in the chalk and that was why it did not put as heavy a coat on any more. Another said that they reduced the amount of corn starch also as it was getting too expensive. Who knows what the truth was. My guess is that heavy metals may have meant lead and the USA cracked down on lead use in the 1990s.

So I guess you can learn something new everyday...

I didn't know cornstarch was an ingredient of chalk.

Could explain why it plays better in the rain than the new version.

So, do you think that if I were to grind up some new pieces
and mix in cornstarch - it would work like the pre-flag?

Reconstituting it back into cakes might be an issue.

Good catch on on shallow tip indentation.
I hauled out some of my 20-ish year old pre flag, not olny are the
indentations much deeper - they are a smaller diameter also.

The things a guy overlooks...

Willing to ship anywhere

I'm getting quite a few nibbles and orders now. Thanks for your trust in the new guy.

USPS flat rate Priority mail is a wonderful thing. I just realized that I can do international shipping reasonably.

Here are the prices for the chalk which include shipping anywhere in the US. If you are in Canada or Mexico add $6.50. Other international orders add $8.50.

Pre-flag

I just received mine in the mail. Great stuff. I use Blue Diamond and I like this just as much if not more.

I got one in my Inbox as well. Actually I didn'yt mind at all for the heads up. If I weren't up to my kness already in Pre Flag I would have liked to know about it as sometimes I miss out on some good deals for not checking the For Sale section often enuff.

got mine as well, and indeed it is a creamier mix than the new stuff which I was using. this stuff seems to make a little less of a mess too with less castoff while chalking.

good stuff. Same chalk is on ebay right now buy it now for 3.25 per cube...

Thanks for the post. I'm selling mine on ebay too (I'm fatspazz on ebay). I'm asking the same price as my sale here on AZ. But on ebay, I'm not including shipping in the price and here I am.

The other guy on eBay is selling it a cube at a time, what a pain that would be.

My order arrived the day after it was shipped. Thanks for making this a smooth and perfect transaction!

I got a free box of this chalk today in the mail.

I've already compared it to the several cubes of PFM that I already had. Everything looks great so far.

I'm gonna play with it for a week or so and post an opinion then. :)

From all I've seen so far, the seller is genuine and the chalk he sent me is indeed PFM.
