Precision Potting manual - Free of Charge

Uh, can someone just post the download link?

I have no intention of doing anything of that sort. If it is too inconvenient or your email is too secretive (a few even gave me their home address in case I send by snail mail), then don't bother. It is after all free materials. Free materials are usually materials that ain't useful anyway.

For those who bother to email, you will get your free copy. When will I stop distributing? Who knows.

Received mine almost immediately after asking. Quite a lot of detail; I fear I am too much of an amateur to benefit from it, but I love to read about billiards and eventually some will sink in. Thank you.

A few have already expressed legitimate issues with giving their email.

If it is "after all free materials" Then there is no reason for you to not just provide a link to download the material.

Unless, of course...it's not really free.

You get what I'm throwin' down, home-skillet?

No it's legit. He has a well thought out set of ideas. Simple and complex, is the way id describe this manual. You should check it out.

Why are you insinuating that it is not free when there were already a few who have gotten theirs free? I sell their email address??

Must I give a reason for not providing a link when the material is mine to give? Like in my other thread, I will not be responding to your "destructive" remarks anymore in this thread.

Have a good day.

Hi Linwood, it is actually for the amateur (or at least one who have at least 20 hours table time). By then, you should be able to hit the cue ball relatively confidently. Potting regularly is another skill altogether.

Precision Potting helps you to pot without good cuing action. Of course, if your aim is to be a semi professional player, then you might want to horn your cuing action instead of taking this short cut. A good player might still find something useful in this manual.

If you have any query about the materials, do email to me and I will try my best to put you on the same page as me.

Best wishes.

I will assure anyone on here this is free. He did not in his original post state how it would be delivered. It took me a couple days to receive it in my email. Soon as I did I printed it out and read several pages when I got home. The author is very specific and detailed with a technical style writing.

He says on here it is meant for players that are more beginners. He just defined it as people with 20+ hours on the table. I guess I must be really stupid then. I have tens of thousands of hours on the table and I was pretty lost reading it. I don't think a beginner with 20 hours on the table even knows much about follow, draw, or spin. In fact even with all the hours on the table I had never heard the term BHE prior to reading this document. Even after reading his brief definition I had to look it up on google and watch a couple youtube videos by Dr Dave to get a better understanding of that concept. Without a good understanding of BHE there is no sense in reading past about page 6 of his document. Don't get me wrong I think it will help out players trying to advance their skill set but in my case I had to search out some of the terms and concepts on the web to understand it. Don't be afraid to give him your email address it is well worth the read. It contains a lot of information that could easily be overlooked. It is however written for people that use solid shafts not LD shafts.

If you don't give a reason for not posting your supposedly free resource in a public place, you can't stop people from drawing their own conclusions, whether those be positive or negative.

That may be true, but many of us just went with the flow and got it.

All you risk is your email address, and opening a PDF file. If it is a concern, just get a temporary email address to request with (they are free and available all over the place), and scan the PDF before opening (I found no problem in it).

Honestly I get why people may wonder about the process, but I can't tell you the number of sites I've had to jump through a lot more hoops to get something "free" and got less for doing more.

Precision Potting

I have received the manual from Ignatius totally FREE, Thanks

Will begin reading while I'm on vacation..

Thanks again

My apologies. What I meant is that anyone with 20+ hours of pool table time will be able to execute Precision Shooting/Potting easily. Newbies with less than 5 hours of pool time and who doesn't have anyone to teach them the basic, will not be able to execute the strokes required ie. BHE, with any conviction.

Reading and understanding is different because you must know the terminology in pool to understand the manual thorough. Sorry about that. Those who have a little problem might have to scour the internet for the meanings. However, there is a glossary at page 28. Maybe that will be of some help.

Looking forward to reading this manual and seeing what it has to offer. It's also an odd coincidence I happen to be practicing at a local tourney and there was a 15-minute group lesson/discussion on this very topic of BHE two days ago.

I have read the Precision Potting Manual. I asked for it and had it in my email within a few hours. I thought the information was very interesting, especially the part about finding the proper bridge length to basically cancel out the effects of deflection vs swerve when applying english. I found the diagrams easy to understand and the writing isn't bad.

A newer player can surely get a good idea of how to test their cue in order to find the sweet spot for applying english with a pivot method. The author stresses several times that the method is not for LD shafts. However, even LD shafts deflect and cause CB squirt, just not as much as a traditional shaft.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. The manual is free, and anything free usually has a place in my budget.

Many who tested Precision Potting with LD shaft told me that the bridge length is to long and is not easy to wield, hence my assertion that it isn't appropriate for LD shaft.

It is also not that appropriate for snooker as well as the table has nap of the cloth.

For those who have received the manual, I would like to add two more points to make Precision Potting more precise. This is through my experience the last few months.

1. Instead of just 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 cue and full cue calibration, do at least one more for 1/8 cue. In other words, you should have 6 markings. These five plus the natural pivot point.
2. I found difficulty ascertaining whether it is 1/4 or 2/3 cue distance. Doubts do creep into my mind during game play. Recently, I found it useful to use a different marking to mark the cue into the different distances. That way, you use this distance marking on your cue to measure, and then the calibration marking on your cue for your bridge.

I haven't read the manual but based on the author's guarded descriptions along with those from others who have read it, it sounds like at least a good portion of it is a rehash of the thread below. Is this the case?

Yes, indeed it is similar. I was made aware of this Colin Colenso video after I finish making my manual in Sep last year.

After reading some his material and viewing his video, I came to the conclusion that while the concept is similar (since physics cannot change), the treatment to the concept is somewhat different.

He seemed to be more inclined to play hard shot and to compensate for throw, Precision Potting is more on softer strokes and throw is not a topic that is touched on (since the target audience is new to average players).

Well, to be fair, if they had to buy it for a few dollars, and pay with PayPal, they are going to have the email anyways. Heck, it's not like someone with an email can wake you up at 3am ;) I'm guessing, that some pool players trying to promote his "goods" is not selling a few dozen emails to a Nigerian Prince.

Heck, i have every email and home address of anyone that has purchased chalk. Of course, I don't remember even one of them. I might recall they live in the midwest, or the east cost, but no reason to memorize them, if they buy again, I will get the address again. To be honest, I don't much notice the address unless it's a place I've visited.

A deep look into precision aiming with English. If aiming with spin troubles you, this is a comprehensive approach to help you.

One of the reasons I decided to use PayPal exclusively for payment processing was to limit the information I even had access to. Everyone can still use Paypal or Credit/Debit cards...whatever. All I get is money and an address, none of which is actually stored on my server anywhere (only temporarily until I download the e-mail). Hack away...there's nothing to steal.
