Hello,

might be in the wrong forum, but...

has anyone heard about a potential recall on 314-2 shafts?
apparently there is a ferrulle issue...

I have had four 314-2 ferrules loosen and come off during tip installation... one on my personal playing cue, and three for customers... no heat at all, glued then cut... and then they broke free from the shaft????

made a call to my local dealer/retailer, who has sent back all 314-2 stock at predator products request...

just curious if anything similar has happend to anyone else...

regards,

Yes, infact as a predator dealer myself I have been told that they are indeed re-calling all the 314-2 shafts. They are having problems with the ferrules loosening up and poppin off. Thats the latest that I have heard.

Thanks, Mark

Predator Ferrule Problem

Yes indeed there is a problem with the new Predator Titan ferrule. I spoke to Shane Sinnot at Platinum Billiards the other day. I've been waiting on a new blank myself for some time now and he informs me that the problem is not just with the 314-2 ,but also with the Z-2's as well:(

o man the z-2's as well? just got a 5k3 last week and it's in transit to my place right now, i do not want to pay for shipping to have it sent back especially since i moori tipped it. this is gonna suck...

My friends just got a new 314-2 shaft less then two months ago. The other day he shoots a ball at medium speed and the ferrule cracked in two places. This was not the result from abuse and he never broke with it. I contacted Predator by e-mail but have heard nothing back about it.

Predator 314-2 Recall?

I have been playing with a 314-2 now for about a month. I had a Moori III Medium put on it. It has been playing fine - so far!

I will be waiting for the ferrule to "pop off" during play - that will be fun.

I was going to buy another 314-2 as a backup shaft but I won't now.

Knock on wood...

I switched to a 314-2 about a month ago. Since then, I have changed the tip 2 times, trying to decide which one I liked on it the best, and I have soft broke with it. So far (knock on wood), I have had no problem and certainly hope that it remains that way. It is a real shame to have a problem like this, because, even if Predator offers to fix it for free, you have to ship your playing shaft off for some amount of time for repair.

Seen this problem 3 times already in the area that I live. Two cracked and one popped off. The sad part was that the one that popped off happed when the player was hitting a hard shot. Not only did the ferrule come loose, but the tenon snapped right off.

Makes me leary of buying a P2 now.

The tenon snapped off? Really?

New Factory

Anyone know where their cues are being made now that Falcon isn't doing it?

Im glad this came up, I was thinking about buying a 314 2 for my new Mezz because the WD700 shaft is 12.5mm and as of late Im playing more and more straight pool and prefere a lil thicker shaft. IMHO 9 ball the WD700 is unequaled, but Im having a hard time will all that spin playing straight pool. Ive ask about a custom shaft for my mezz but was told they dont do the Mezz joint, I dont think Mezz offers the WD700 in a larger Larger diameter do they?

I quess I could just learn to deal with it, If mezz Does offer a Larger Diameter of the WD700 Please let me know..Im all over it.

Thanks, SPINDOKTOR

I have two shafts sitting at home (314-2) and both ferrules are cracked ...
does anyone have any idea how I could send it back and know when I'll actually hear from them/get it back from them?
thanks

the mezz joint is the same as a thread count as a schon i've interchanged the shafts before. it shouldn't be that hard to find a cuemaker to make another shaft for it

predator returns

Contact them through their web site... there is a response/question from to fill out and they respond via email quicker than they do over the phone... I sent my shaft in approx 10 days ago, they confirmed reciept and have put it in line for repair at the shop... hope that I get it back soon... good luck with yours...

Predator Shaft Problem

I posted this on the Main Section but will do it here as well. I checked with a dealer that I have bought from and he said they are running about one in every 30 shafts having a problem with the ferrule. He said the actual problem is that the ferrules on the bad shafts are not being put on straight but off center and that is a problem they are currently working to correct. Any problem shafts are being returned for rework or a new shaft to Predator. They are not apparently going to have a full out recall of the shafts. It is both on the 314 2 and the Z 2. He stated he has only had one shaft returned and he has been selling them since they first came out.

i've had 2 314(2) shaft bought last year one with original SE-9 and another spare both okay nothing happened..luckily i have sold my cue now as just bought a white.
i know of one person here in UK who exactly the same problem as others though-must be luck or depending on when you bought it.
