Predator Format

Simple. Two races to 4. Winner of first set gets to break for a One Game Sudden death. You don't even need to call a ref over to spot the balls.

Won't take any longer (might even be shorter). Everyone is happy.

Yep, they are trying something different. BUT
The cost to fly/room/eat.... $peaks to the players.
Especially the next level just near the top, those guys make these types of events fill and a success.
These players are Very important in keeping the business going.
Eventually they tire, can't afford it and go back to work.
For many just paying the nut these days is tough action.

Is it just me?

I find Predator's format very shallow, unemotional and boring.
There's not Enough/Play/back and forth to get me goin' and INTERESTED.

Theres NO chance a pro can be down waaaaaaaay down and come back.

That's the way this sport MUST be played.

Like when I watched Roger Griffis come back ten games and tie it up only to lose the next/game/match.

Seeing a player down 6-0.... come back and win or just tie it up is Special.

Waaaaaaaaaay better than seeing a 4-1 4-3 match go into overtime with a spot shot shoot out.

It's just not EXCITING.

If Predator had their pro races to 11 that would be REAL.
It would then.............................be the Exact same product/business model as the original US open in VA, that created HOF players.

Only thing I enjoyed was, the 5 ball was Orange.

It’s totally disorganized of where and when to watch matches. Where do they get their referees? The Bowery or Rikers Island?

WTF? The schedule is up every day and matches usually start within a few min. of listed time. Matches were on both FB and YT and this was clearly listed too. I'm sorry if you're internet-challenged but don't blame this on them. Again, either don't watch or stop whining. Pool go's for yrs with very little pro pool to watch and when it does show back up all people do is bitch. Someone told me a long time ago that most pool players would bitch if they weren't hung with a new rope. This is true now more than ever.

To be honest, im not a fan of the format but imho the cream still rises to the top and the better player still find a way to adapt n win the tournament.
Its abit refreshing to keep the attention of new pool players compared to the long races to 15 or 50 which i personally enjoy more.
Not really a fan of carlo , but he played good and shot even better thru a couple of shootouts to beat some world killers like Ko n kaci.
The shootout btw him n ko showed some ice cold veins the man got.
Just my 2 cents

I agree the shootout is anticlimactic and add that it is effectively deciding a tied match by playing a different game.

They are playing h-o-r-s-e, for Pete out loud.

Let them trade innings and play the ghost till someone stumbles.(no push after the break or BIH, dammit!).

You missed my point, I'm talking about reality for those up/coming that are 750 Fargoish, many still room and travel together (US open casino weekend Room Bump$$$ is huge).
Puerto Rico venue was on an island.
Plus in 2020 food/gas/room are quite different than during the Gabe Owen years.
Pretty sure Atlantic city would cost more that the island trip when you add in E. Coast cost of living. Plus the cost of getting from the airport in Jersey to the Open is real.

I wouldn't want any playoff format where one of the players might not get to participate.
