Predator forward weight bolt problem

I recently purchased a Predator P2 LE and it has developed a slight rattle near the joint. I assume it is in the forward weight bolt. I know there was a thread a while back about the forward balancing weight system used by Predator, but I can't find it. I am planning on sending the cue to Predator to see if they can fix it, but was hoping someone could direct me to that thread. Any help would be appreciated.
 
my p2 had that exact same problem too. sent it back to predator and they sent me a new cue. i believe it was kevin varney that posted about discovering the second weight bolt in predator cues during a repair job.

Did Predator say anything about whether or not they could fix it?

I really like my Limited Edition and I am hoping that it is repairable.

I've known lots of people who had a problem with Predator products here and there. I've never known Predator to ever repair it, they always seem to replace it.
 
The cost of repairing a cue is sometimes higher than the cost to build the cue from scratch, plus you are dealing with wood and wood doesn't like to be put back together again while retaining it's beauty.
 
Good point, but this a Limited Edition Cue - 50 made. Not sure it will be easy to replace. I obviously don't know very much about cue construction, but I am hoping there is some way to repair the buzz without having to do too much damage to the wood and everything else.
 
What does Predator do if it's a limited edition cue that isn't easily replaced? Do they keep a few spares on hand for such a case?
 
I guess placing those bolts inside phenolic AND not gluing them was a BAAAAD idea.
 
for mine they said it would be easier to just send me a new cue. for a limited edition they might not be able to do that, so they may try and fix it. i got the sense it was quite difficult and expensive to do the repair

I'd say that's a pretty good warranty if they sent you a new cue! I've heard of a lot of cue problems rattles etc. where the owners weren't so lucky.

My freind had a limited edition that had a problem. They replaced it for him but because it was a year after that cues debut, they didn't have that particular cue anymore they had to give him the next edition. In his case he was better off because it was a more expensive cue and he liked the design better..

Thanks for that information. I was curious. Glad it worked out well for your friend. That does seem like a reasonable solution on their part (though I find the more recent Predator special and limited edition cues unappealing).
 
I sent it in to predator. They are going to check it out and let me know what they can do. They said that if the problem is with the forward balancing bolt they seriously doubt that it is repairable. I give you an update once they get back to me. I love the P2, but never liked the metal joint. When I found this one without the metal joint I thought it was the best of both worlds. Hope they can fix it.
 
I had the same/similar problem with a new BK2. It took Predator two times before I received a cue that didn't exhibit the same problem. They took care of it... but it was a nuisnace to keep sending cues back to them. :confused:
