Predator Ohio open 19-22 oct STACKED field

So the top 16 get ALL the prize funds?
Anyone 17th and below get $0.

What was the total player count?

I'm trying to figure out, if 25% of the field was paid.
Because, I'm assuming, they had Only 64 entrants.
If so, the numbers seem fair.
If not, then this payout structure will have issues IMHO.
Yes, this tournament was limited to 64 entrants and 25% of the field is paid.

i think they had best of five sets at the world teams, do you know if that format lowered the frequency of shootouts?
theoretically, evenly matched players would have a shootout 3/8 of the time (37%) for a race to 3 sets instead of 1/2 the time for a race to 2.

Do you mean best of four with a shootout? Best of five will normally have no shoot out.

Thx Mike I'm glad it was capped at 64.

Since there are NO feeder/semi pro MR events with qualifying points, it might not be a bad idea to figure how to pay down 17-24.
Those guys are ''on the cut'' and receiving some MR points couldn't hurt.

It could/would give those up and comers, a reason to travel and keep at it, instead of maybe just playing because of location and costs.

I sure wish MR would of incorporated a semi-pro type feeder system, to Help support their Jr Initiative, because what's in cue for that age group?

About 25% of the field paying has been tournament standard for many sports since the dawn of time.

There is NOTHING wrong with the payouts. Tweaking is fine but to say something is wrong with it is nonsense.

I found out there was after Mike said the field was 64.

If you read my post #84 I thanked Mike, it was two posts before yours.

Having finished 17-24 Twice at the US Open 9 ball event, I have a clue about what is and is not Fair.

I've just seen Many events in the past NOT payout properly, tooooooooooo many times.

I looked at the bracket. I assume when the score is shown as 3-2 it means they tied at 2-2 in races to 4 and then had a shootout decider. It looks like the event had a total of 43 matches and 12 of them had shootouts. So 28% (12 of 43).

My bad.

yea that's what i mean. didn't see many of the matches but don't remember seeing more than one shootout

There were quite a few shootouts, including one that went 16-15, just maybe not on the main table. Have to say it did make things exiting to see who won, even though I still think the best pro format is a race to 11 or 13 like the old tournament matches were.

I happened to be in Ohio for work the same time as this and went for a few days. Got a chance to talk with Gorst in Russian so that was fun. I'm in the red Pats hat at the main table for a few matches.
