Predator Ohio open 19-22 oct STACKED field

Pretty weird action off the point in that last rack. About 44 minutes from the beginning when Mika was shooting on the 7.

This table has serious issues.

1st Semifinal Gorst v Grabe NOW

2nd Semifinal 12noon
Kaci v Roberto Gomez

FINAL 3pm

These tables aren't very consistent, but I trust Predator to fix the problems. Maybe we are all just spoiled, having just watched the US Open played on Diamond tables that were pretty close to perfect.
Just like their daddy-table the KSteel these are very hard to set-up. Getting the frame square/level can be a royal pia. Diamonds can be moved around, set-up and leveled in no time compared to these.

Started with 15x800 players but less than half only 7x800 made it to last 16. Only 44% of last 16 made up of 800 players. 4x800 in quarters and 2x800 in semis
Too many shootouts. 51 matches were shootouts which is about 44% of matches so about 1 in 2 matches are shootouts

This may have been true last year, now the tables are 1 piece slate and moved around in dolly cages.

still have to get that frame square. can be a real biach. i'm still seeing bad rolls in these Pred. events. when Ernesto says they're hard to get right you generally listen to the master.

that was my take as well. i wonder how funky they will play in puerto rico.

Roberto is still nervy in pressure situations. Even after all these years.

At least he’s starting to win SOME of them. He’s come a long way since Covid.

Yes, too many shootouts. I think it ended up at 52 of the 117 matches played, 44% as you said. Two races to 4 between good players are bound to end up with a pretty high frequency of each player winning one of the races. I hope that any format changes for next year reduce the importance of shootouts (if any).

Among equal players, you expect the shootout to happen 50% of the time, since it is a best of two, and the winner of the first set is only 50% to win the second set. That's regardless of the length of each set. As long as it's best of two, you can expect a lot of shootouts and more towards the final rounds as cream has to play cream. With races to four, the chance of a shootout does not drop under 25% until the players are about 115 FR points apart.

Winner gets $25K really good for 64 player field. I think they paid $25K for 128 player field before. No wonder many big names getting into the action :D

I'm trying to understand the payout percentages.
As many know that are right below the top in the world, when it's top heavy, eventually the bottom eventually/inevitably gets tired of paying the rent/Reality.

First 25K,
second 13K
third $6500,
So what does 4th get, ior does 4th and 5th get the same?
What does 6th 7th and 8th get?

And 9th? is it 9th - 12th?

Am I reading this correctly.
Only 9th-12th are cashing?
Or is it just 9th?

I'm corn fused about thee above payout post.
Hopoefully it's just me.

The last 16 play single elimination. Losers in the round of 16 all tie for ninth and get $1,500 each, Losers in the quarterfinals all tie for 5th and get $3,000 each. Losing semifinalists tie for 3rd and get $6,500. The runner-up gets $13,000 and the champion $25,000.

i think they had best of five sets at the world teams, do you know if that format lowered the frequency of shootouts?

So the top 16 get ALL the prize funds?
Anyone 17th and below get $0.

What was the total player count?

I'm trying to figure out, if 25% of the field was paid.
Because, I'm assuming, they had Only 64 entrants.
If so, the numbers seem fair.
If not, then this payout structure will have issues IMHO.
