Another pop zing wonderful idea from predator. This is the 7th or 8th one of these "pads" come off along with the tip. Folks must be so thrilled to buy a $300 shaft only for it break in days/weeks. They might want to start using the same glue they use for the tip when glueing up their pad.

Just curious, have you called them yet to discuss your suggestion? Or maybe asked why it's happened or what you can do about it?

Their pad looks like some type of cloth fiber. Maybe they should use the pads that OB uses on their shafts.

It's a money thing. Predator wants you to send your cues into them for new tips. Or, their ferrule material is hard to glue up to so they put that pad on it to make it easier. Also, if that pad is removed you void the warrenty, so it could be a way to get out of paying for crappy shafts. Who knows, but i'm starting to see a lot of these coming by.

So those were not your 7 or 8 shafts, you must be a "cue maker" then?

Just didnt make sense that after 7 or 8, instead of calling predator, you just blasted them...lol

Ran into this today -
Newer 314 tip popped off -
Glued on a new kamui and it popped off during shaping -
Any ideas what glue works with this ferrule material ?
All of my glues melt the ferrule -

Saw this happen 10 to 12 years ago on players cues with glue melting the ferrule -
Could never find a glue so i replaced the ferrule -

Yep. I do cue repair, and I'm starting to see lots of folks stop by because their tip popped of their new cue.... Keep in mind these are the stock tips that popped off along with their stock pad deal....

Curiously, are you an authorized Predator Repair person?

This is what people allow it to be. I try to stay positive as well as respectful. BUT! What would happen if people started saying. Hey...I love your product but can't bring myself to buy it because. In your opinion, I can't get it maintained locally.
Bet that wouldn't sit to well.

I took those pads off and glued a Triangle tip on my 313-3 shaft.
Never had any problems.
I break with that shaft all the time, both 9 and 8 ball.

True in that it is what people allow it to be. But i am confused by your statement.

It is very simple and very easy. When I needed service I went to http://www.predatorcues.com/dealers/ and used the locator thing and selected repair center and found plenty of places to get service. I even called them and they patched me right over to the repair center. I printed the form they needed, filled it out, sent my stuff in and they serviced it. Not too complicated.

Ha....tape....I'm pretty shocked how nice of a picture my cell phone took....

Phone cameras are incredible!!! I use mine as a tool daily. I had a piece of metal in my eye that I could feel but not find. I took a pic of my eye with my phone. I was able to blow the pic up on my phone to make my eye real big, I could then see where the debris was. About a minute later I successfully removed the debris from my eye ball. I could not see the debris on the cue tip that I used until I took a pic of it and blew it up on my phone camera once again. I saved that picture, I wish I saved the eyeball one too.

It's not complicated at all except, a lot of people only have 1 shaft and why? In todays age of Cue making and especially Cue repair. Why should you have to ship your shaft anywhere?
