Predator Z shaft VS Predator Z2 shaft

I really like the Predator Z shaft... And am considering buying a Z2...

For those of you that use the Z2 and used to use the Z

I would like to know how much difference there is in performance/feel....

Thank you in advance

Please no O.B.1 - Kanobi comparisons......
As it is too whippy for me.....

This has been discussed many times in this forum - use the search feature and read all of the responses - none of which will give you an answer until you find out for yourself which is best for YOU.

I already did the search.... and the landscape of members and opinions on the matter changes all the time...

Also when the search is done by Title only.... I found no threads on this subject... only comparisons on OB-1 vs various Predators

just with the short ferrule and the material used....... the hit is a little different, I like the older Z.... but like anything else people will have different opinions... test hit one at your local pro shop... the tip used is a big difference to ........ good luck

Do you mean that the Z2 has an even shorter ferrule than the Z?

unfortunately there isn't anywhere I can demo one... I know what you mean about the tip, the Everest would have to be replaced if I end up with one...

Yes, the ferrule is shorter, the hit has a little more give but I like that because it also gives me more spin on soft to medium shots. IMHO I feel that I get more action with the Z2 than the Z.

Cue: P2 30"Z2
Break: BK2
Jump: AT-1 Stealth

If you held a gun to my head, I still could not tell the difference between 314-2 versus 314 Original, Z-2 versus Z Original or even New Coke and Coke Classic.

TY for the review...
I noticed that you use the 30" model... Have you compared it to the 29".... only reason I ask is because I have had a few 30" 314 shafts and the seem to play a touch softer than the 29" 314...
I was wondering if the Z family was this way too....

kinda hard to believe the ferulle could get any shorter than the original Z... lol

I think I remember reading that you don't like Predators, is that correct?

First, you should look at my signature. That would help. Second, it's the OB-1 I don't like. I think it's ugly.

Oh ya, thats what it was.... I thought I saw you saying that you didn't like one of them.....

Seriously, if you actually saw the statistical differences between all four Predator shafts, you wouldn't think about it ever again. It's so trivial. Yes, I'm sure there is less deflection now than there was 10 years ago but no pool player is gonna know. If you miss it's because you hit it wrong!

I agree.... But I really like the Predator products, especially on inside english shots... Or any extreme english shot... Aiming is simplified so much IMO

Not that I ever want to hit exteme english... But I do get outta line LOL

predator products cut down deflection...... the shaft moves away from the ball after contact, thus causing the ball to track straight or straighter than a regular non lam. shaft...... some players like deflection to get movement on the ball to get shape...

I can't really answer that about the difference between 30 and 29. My only 29s are a 314 and the BK2 shaft.

At 6'3" the longer the cue the better. I carry a cue extender around with me. 2 weeks ago another guy on my team started to use it full time. He is 6'8" and the regular cues are just not long enough for him.

OK TY.......

Do realize going to a 30" shaft you are changing the whole balance of the cue... yes having a 30" shaft your cue will play softer, just do to the longer shaft, from this you will have more movement a longer hinge point.... some people like this some people don't..

Yes, this could be a whole new thread....

i think people with longer bridges tend to like the 30" shafts....

They definately change the balance point
