Preference between Ball Return or Pockets?

Back up to the post I made about installing Diamond first ProAm 9ft with a 3 piece slate:D

Glen

Hmm now your just trying to make my decision really hard aren't you!

Aaron did mention it there wasn't any Pro's with ball return system available for awhile as well, and I should have my basement done fairly soon as well...

Do I want looks or a better ball return system DOH

I'm the only one that has ever done this with a Diamond ProAm so far, but I can say this, it's really not any harder to set up a ProAm with a 3 piece slate than it is to set up a Diamond Professional with a 3 piece slate, it just takes a little longer, that's all. The very first Diamond 9ft "Smart Table" believe it or not, has a 3 piece, 1 1/4" slate in it, I know, I own it:D

How's this ball box for playing 1p?

I love the ball return. It's beyond me that silence means that much more over convenience.

4" pockets = greatest game of one hole ever.

I've had the pleasure of talking with Glen, and hes a top notch guy. I'd value his opinion on any table if I were looking for table(s) . There is no reason to get anything less than a Diamond 9' Pro AM table these days. Simply no comparison.

No returns!! It hurts me to have to bend down alot grabbing at balls. Would much rather grab them straight out of the pocket.

I love ball returns but it's harder on the balls. Most GC's made of metal rails and they do wear the finish of the balls.

Drop Pockets

are like 5-speeds. Fun at first, but 8 months in, and you find yourself wishing you had gotten an automatic.

I think the Pro is much better looking for a home room.

I think the drop pockets make a beautiful sound.

That's what I wanted and what I bought and I've been happy every day since. It's been almost 7 years now.

Realkingcobra,

Any chance of any pics showing the workings of a Diamond Ball Return system and what makes it so quiet?

Thanks

I looked at all my pictures of the Diamond tables, and I don't have any pictures to show that...but Brian at Diamond can send me some, then I'll post them here so you can see what the return system looks like. :)

Thats nonsense. Manual is the only way to drive. Better gas mileage too.

-->Only drives manual.:cool:

Glen,
I saw Brian at VF and asked about this, when is it going to be ready, I want one as well as the home version of the ball polisher.
Waiting.....
Tom

On Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays I play on a Diamond with a ball return. On Tuesdays & Thursdays I play on a Diamond with drop-pockets. Since I have a bad back I prefer the drop-pockets. While I'm not crazy about the appearance of the black boards that frame in the returns, I must say that the Diamond return system is extremely quiet and dependable.

I'm having a hard time figuring out which group is more lazy -- those of us who don't want to pull balls from each pocket, or those of us who don't want to bend down to retreive the balls from the ball return! :)
