don't know if questioning the ruling or conceding was basis for unsportsmanlike warning. probably the latter
What was the game score when the foul was called? I assume the ref made the call after he broke? Seems strange, as all the matches I’ve seen the ref is standing behind the player on the break shot, which would make it hard for the ref to determine if the cue ball was sitting on or just over the headstring, unless it was clearly over the headstring to the extent that the ref could see the headstring line behind the cue ball?ref called foul for breaking with whitey over the kitchen line, he got pissy and conceded the rack, then walked off. came back after a while, svb won 5-4.
I assume the ref

Here’s the break that the ref said was out of the break box. It sure looks inside it to me.

Cutting it close but yes, clearly behind/on the headstring, which is based on the base of the ball and where it is touching the cloth. Here’s the break that the ref said was out of the break box. It sure looks inside it to me.

Mika would have broken his wrist.Imagine if Mika got hit with this call.
From the angle his cue shaft is pointing, he was clearly inside the center box on both accounts. Perhaps the referee was just making a point because it was so close to being on both lines. Here’s the break that the ref said was out of the break box. It sure looks inside it to me.

Even after the replay, JJ still said yep he feathered the ball loldefinitely looks it. i'm watching on a phone so couldn't tell, looked like a close call. JJ thought it was that he feathered the ball but that wasn't it
What's weird is they stopped filming the rest of the match? They cut the feed to a dart advertisement for the rest of the set.
I went back and watched and maybe Sanjin was over the box line instead of the headstring - really hard to see how it was different from his other breaks during the set. Maybe it was clearer to the ref at the table. I didn't see a feather or double hit. Sanjin seemed to keep his cool; understandable he'd want to discuss the call with the ref at least.
Imagine if Mika got hit with this call.
Agree completely. I almost think MR should not hold events without fans in attendance. The setting for this tournament makes it hard to watch. It looks like they are playing in a mortuary with this color scheme and furniture. It's quiet as a church with no spectators. Boring jmo.
So when JJ said he feathered the ball, I assume that means he accidentally touched it with his tip during his pre-shot strokes?Even after the replay, JJ still said yep he feathered the ball lol
Video replay looked like it was inside break box. Sanjin asked to see video replay but ref rejected- I tot player can ask to see video replay, ask for TD decision or is that other tournament rules
This is very true. I see it all the time on my home pool table that has an overhead camera in the middle.we see it from a top camera that's centered on the middle of the table, not the headstring, with anti-fisheye tech (don't know the correct terminology) that slightly distorts the angle. so what we get from the top camera may not be conclusive
Agreed, winning only 2 of 5 matches today leaves SVB in a spot where he likely needs to run the table on his 4 matches tomorrow, and then hope a few others above him falter.
Been wondering what’s going on with SVB’s game. Seems to mess up consistently in position or shot.
