*****Pricing Question on a Meucci Cue*****

I may have the opportunity to possibly purchase a Meucci 95-32 however, I have no idea how much these cues are running these days. I do know from the pics I've seen it's unused/unplayed condition with two shafts and Meucci JPs. Any thoughts or inputs appreciated.

They sold for $2000 in 1996 so in unplayed condition full price $2000!
Looked at the 2nd Edtion Blue Book of Cues this morning (as I can't find my 3rd edition) and I believe (at that time) it said $2000.00 MSRP and valued at $3000.00 so a lot of years have passed since then. I'm thinking $4 - $5K. Thoughts?

$500 at most, just my opinion. Cues from this era were mass produced so they
will not go up a ton. The originals have gone up and are very desirable.

What I found out about the higher end series is that they were not massed produce as say some of the lower end Meucci more affordable cues or else we would be seeing these all over the place. This information coming from the Meucci Factory.

Thanks. So, here we are 27 years after the original release of this cue and 18 years after the printing of the 3rd Ed of Blue Book of cues...I'm certain this cue has increased in value from $2k.

Not necessary, beanie babies took quite a hit in value over time hehe. Really all depends on who is in the market for a high end Meucci for their collection and how much they want that particular model. I sure remember the cues from those lines back then when I was looking through the various catalogs at my local pool hall. I'm planning on getting the newer copy of the 95-26 next year at SBE, the guy that had it was in the $550 range for it.

They were made same way. just badly executed. the old shop in olive branch wasn't real big from what i saw. they never really did what i'd call 'mass production'. problem was they got sloppy and had poor qc before sending them out.

I think if you pay $1,000 you would be lucky to get your money back. First you say you do not know value, Then you jump to $4,000 which is ridiculous. Times have changed and everyone knows values are down. Meucci values change constantly. One week they sell for under $200 and the next week they sell for over $350. If the seller is asking over $1,000 I would walk away. If you want it for your collection, then pay what you want, but if you think the value is over $2,000 I think you are mistaken.

...
Is that a Meucci catalog page? Strange that budgetcues would claim a copyright.

I'm thinking that $4k is a price a seller would propose, not a buyer. If the cue is worth $4k to complete your collection, go for it. If I were collecting cues and had some time to make a decision, I'd wait to see what several other cues on that page sold for.

Remember -- many asking prices are totally bogus. I collect pool books. I routinely see $10 books listed at $150 in an attempt to catch the fools.

I’m pretty sure Budget Cues is a Meucci company. Maybe run by Bob’s daughter?

Freddie <~~~ might be a rumor

Meucci's don't go up in value. They only go down. Actually "very few" cues go up in value, be it production or custom. All that said that is a very pretty cue. There was a player in our local room who had either that same one or a similar model in the early 2000's. There are some Meucci fanatics that might pay top dollar. But they are few and far between. And top dollar would probably be 750 or so, IMO.

This is out of the 3rd Blue book.

What does it list for the road runner? I sold one to the author of the blue book in the mid 2000's for $2000. I vaguely recall the blue book might have had a 4k price on it. It was owned by Pete Sinkler, the player out of PA with the wooden leg and the poster "must keep one foot on the floor".

I still have a few 95 series Meucci cues the 95-17 and 95-19 Bushka and Airplane cues that were first introduced as Oldies series cues and came with SS joints. Both of these cues are very solid players- no issues at all to this day. As for not appreciating- I paid $30 for the 95-17 and $90 for the 95-19 - second hand- both about 20 years ago- they are in original excellent condition. No problem getting $400 to $600 for either cue today.

Look at older Gambler Meucci form the 90s- people bid on them like crazy on e bay - many Meucci cues still get very good money and sell quickly; for what was paid for them from the late 70s to the mid 90s.

Straight & sound 95-32, two good shafts which can be refinished to very good condition>>>>500 +-

Meucci cues have been hit or miss on quality for quite awhile now.
Has that changed since new owners took over?

Per the plant manager the right words are said, too soon to tell if that translates into improved performance esp., across the board increased, consistent quality

imo we'll be able to evaluate results in 6 to 12 months
