I’d say no, but we could come up with a list of best golfers among pro pool players or best pool players among pro golfers.

In years past, I think I’ve heard accounts of road players / gamblers that were extremely good at both games.

Plenty of people play both at a very high level. Strickland was around scratch, Deuel was a +handicap and gave golf a serious run in his early 20s even when already world#1 at pool. Losing those few years to his golf persuit def hurt his Hall of Fame career.

Due to the gigantic $ difference between the 2 tho, you won't see anyone at the top of both because when you can win 4MILLION dollars for winning a 3round Live Golf tournament over a weekend, it would be an absurd misuse of your time to spend any hours on getting your pool game sharp at the cost of getting a little more edge in your golf events. If you can be the worst player on the PGA tour, you will make 10x more $ than the top pool player in the world. At least. So ye, it takes time to truly master and then maintain any skill set. So if a guy has golf, he'd be an idiot to spend any time on pool beyond a recreational level of commitment. But there are plenty of guys that are good at both games.

Playing pool makes you a better putter. MYTH
Seems to have merit imo. There is a lot of overlap between the two. Seeing the lines and visualizing shots is something pool players are very adept at compared to the general public so that is a huge leg up (tho someone would still have to teach them how to read greens so they draw the appropriate lines to begin with). And as far as making a repeatable short swing with a feel for distance control, few other activities prepare one for putting like pool does. Even tho the details are different, the general approach and how to build a stroke are very similar.

I mean if a guy 'plays pool' but is like a FR400 or lower, I dunno if he understands pool enough to have it start spilling over to and affecting his play in other sports. But once proficient, with a strong understanding of their own technique, say mid 500s fargo and above, I think playing pool def helps putting. It helps golf in general.

One thing I've found from men that are very good at both these disciplines is.

When You meet em for the first time on a golf Course they tell you they are very good at pool.
Same person....

LOL. Actually true. Tho to be fair, men like to tell you about anything they're good at.

If they're a vegan as well, what do they tell you first?
JK, vegans aren't good at anything :p

I’ve found the ones that are really good at anything don’t feel a need to brag about it.

It’s ridiculous how many times I’ve heard someone in here say they put themselves through college playing pool and they can’t play a lick.

Yes, he’s the one written about in more than one of the pool books I’ve read, but offhand I can’t remember which ones.

I've heard that college one a ton too. What an eye roller that saying is. Most people I knew that were actually scraping a living at pool were supplementing their meals with cat food. I think the pool hall was a better education than whatever college time I had.
Golf and pool. Tempo and timing.

Based on the ones I've met, they're good at trying to convert good old meat-eating beer guzzling boys into their vegan ways and how bad everything is that's outside of their dietary habits and beliefs.
