Just curious if anyone flew with a cue to an all inclusive in Cuba? I have a cheap schmelke I use for traveling. I'm sure i will have to check it with my luggage. Thoughts?

travel with my instroke 3x7 inside my checked bag no issues, ive flown from Alaska to Boston , Boston to Puerto Rico, Boston to S.Korea and plan on doing to the same thing next month when i fly from S. Korea to Georga.

Now also i have flown from Iraq to Virgina and back to Iraq with a soft 2x4 case witout any issues.

Good luck

It drives me crazy! I used to carry my cue onto an airplane, set it under the seat in front of me - no worries. Now I can't carry my cue, but I can sit next to someone with knitting needles!
Also, every trip I have been on, there is at least one guitar and/or skateboard someone carries on. Both take up more room, and it could be debateable if they are worth more than my cues and case.
I do occasionally see a pool case on someones back in the airport - I don't know if they check it though.
I could honestly do more damage with the ball point pen I am allowed than trying to swing a cue butt in an airplane!
Sorry for the rant Yally - I guess I am saying I don't even test it here (in the U.S.)
And maybe with all inclusive they have decent cues there.
I would love to see Cuba one day. I have never heard about the pool there. I've heard about Castro, Food, Cars, and Women! (not necessarily in that order) Have a good trip! Personally, some pics when you get back would be great!

I take a long time getting my thoughts together, JoseV posted while I was composing. I have put them in my bag and checked it before, I just don't like them out of my sight.

To JoseV - if I were in charge and you needed to get somewhere, you could carry a piano on my plane.

Thank You!

Do you really think your going to "miss" something, if you don't have your "Schmelke" cue with you at the resort? I would not think the equipment (table, cloth, balls, lighting etc..) would merit having a pool cue with you. Besides probably not getting any "action", you are in a COMMUNIST country. You could be charged with being a CIA operative (or worse). Why not just see if you can get a pack of good ol' (MADE IN THE USA) "Trojans" through customs. Suitable for "sodomizing" the thing of your choice (women would be my choice...but to each his own). Anyhow, have a nice trip and tell "Ricky Riccardo" if you see him that I said "Hi". When you come back please post "splainin" how your trip went.

You can take scissors if they are not longer than 5 inches but you have to check a pool cue. For the life of me I cannot understand this.

We live in a world now, that refuses to fix the problem, but would rather make the majority miserable, so as not to impinge on someone's rights. You can thank the ACLU, lawyers, and left leaning judges. If the law is the law, then how come we get all these 5-4 decisions by the Supreme Court. Ya, you guessed it, ideology.

I'm a senior citizen, who served his country, lived a law abiding life, never got a speeding ticket. However, I had to go through the screening, taking my belt and shoes off and made to feel like, don't say or do anything about how you feel about this or they won't let you get on the airplane.

I feel a hell of a lot more comfortable walking into a pool room than an airport. Fix the f---ing problems people! Sorry for the rant, but this one really go to me. Hopefully, it will get to a lot more people, and maybe, just maybe, the people who we send to Washington will start doing something for us. Note: I really doubt it.

Don't bother trying to apply logic to the rules and laws in the US. A lot of them defy all logic. Cannabis is still illegal in the US! A plant that has more uses than any of our law makers.

Curious

Trying to figure out what you dislike most: Schmelke cues? Cuba? Cuban band leaders? Women? The "COMMUNIST" threat?
I had almost forgotten about the commies hiding behind every tree and light pole, trying to take over the U.S! You can't be too careful! "RED shoes"?

I know....off thread...had to rant.

The real problem is that politician get elected by promising to do something and the only thing a politician can do is create more law or more government. Start voting for politicians who promise less vs more and many of our problems will be addressed much more directly and with much less cost.

I don't know about you but I don't need the government or anybody else to take care of me.

It is far easier for the authorities to impose changes on the law abiding citizens than it is to catch and punish those that ignore the laws. After all the law abiding comply! By doing this when a failure occurs law enforcement and politicians can claim to be doing something about the problem without having to accept and admit responsibility. Instead they can blame a system and launch an "investigation" to show how they are doing something.

Based on what I've seen of pool tables in Cuba I suggest leaving the cue at home and just vacation.

To: Donny Lutz....I have no axe to grind with Schmelke cues (or any other cues), Cuba (I think they make wonderful cigars), Cuban Band leaders (I love "I Love Lucy") and I like "Women" (they have some very interesting and useful parts). As far as the "Communists", well "laddy"...sorry I'm showing my age (56)... When I was in the U.S. Army (in the early to mid 70's), we thought those guys were bent on "World Domination" and trained to try and stop them (isn't that silly). We didn't know then that "they" had the better form of government and society ("FROM EACH ACCORDING TO HIS ABILITY...TO EACH ACCORDING TO HIS NEED"). So please forgive this old soldier his ignorance. I DO NOT think that "commies" are hiding behind EVERY tree and light pole, but we have a couple of trees and light poles @ 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. that might need inspection. FINALLY...."Lutz" sounds an awful lot like "Mertz"....are you married to "Ethyl"??

Cues on planes

Like others, I pack my cues in large suitcase and they are protected by all the clothes. I also bought a nylon case specifically made for cues and cases and just check it. It will hold 3 large (3-5) cases. I don't use it any more because of the fees! I carry my large, heavy empty case as carry on. All this started with the meathead with the shoe bomb and that underwear bomber. As far as bombs go I think they should make everyone walk into a vault, close it a zap it and make any bomb just explode.

I've heard of some guys who have packed their cues in their luggage and carried the empty case on the plane.

I'd be interested to know more about pool in Cuba. Given all the neat old American cars they have there it wouldn't surprise me if they had a treasure trove of neat old Brunswick Centennials around the island.

Are you going to elect not to have your passport stamped?

Interesting, hadn't thought about. There is no embargo with Canada, so I wouldn't have thought to say no. You think I would get hassled coming into the US when I travel there if there is a Cuban stamp?

Either way, the wifey has moved into picking the Dominican or Mexico now. :)

I have known many U.S. citizens who have opted not to have "Communist" countries stamp their passports.
