I had a Mezz MPC2 cue I got new and had for about 5 years. After a few years the butt of the cue had a slight warp and the shaft (wd-700). Also had a warp. It was a $900 cue. I always keep my cues stored in case indoors in good conditions, and have not had any other cue warp except predator. I know it wasn't anything I did. Has anyone else had problems with mezz shaft or butt warping? I since sold that cue and was looking at getting another, but nervous about the pricey investment on something that is prone to warpage. Thanks.

I've never seen a warped Mezz cue. But it's wood, so it can obviously happen.
That can happen with any cue, from a J&J to a Szamboti. I have had maybe 10-12 Mezz cues and thus far havent had any issues with the butts, I have however had a couple shafts that didnt stay straight. I wouldnt call them warped but they developed about 2 credit card thickness' of roll out. Far from anything that would effect how they play. Im down to one Mezz butt and its the CJ12P, which I have left in the car for long periods of time and in all temperature conditions and it still rolls true. There are for sure those Mezz cues that will have some issues but statistically I think they are far better than most out there.
Any wood cue can warp, even when seasoned correctly.
If you are interested in what is inside any cue, follow the cue makers forum and look at pics of broken cues. If really interested go back and review old posts if you want to dedicate hours.

That would be an interesting read. Unfortunately I don't know enough about cue construction to be able to intelligently dectermine which cues are good or based based upon what's inside of them. Maybe upon reading through the info though some light will be she'd upon what's good and bad. I'll give it a look, thanks.
Ok, well maybe I just had bad luck with my butt lol. It's wierd though.... I've had shafts from say for example McDermott cues and schmelke that are 20 years old and still straight as an arrow. Then you can spend $200-$300 on a shaft from a company such as Mezz and have them get a roll or warp. Seems like for that price, it shouldn't happen except very very rarely. You stated that you have had 12 mezz cues and a couple of the shafts had developed a roll and mine did as well. I'm not going to do the exact math but thats about a 25 percent rate of developing a roll. Seems very very high.
Probably 10-12 cues and maybe 15-20 shafts. Its tricky when describing a roll because what some might think is a lot others might not. Im far from picky and any Mezz shaft I have had, even the couple that rolled off slightly, I wouldnt have thought twice about buying them over again. On a side note, temperature and humidity changes can 100% cause butts and shafts to move. I flew to Vegas from IN once and had a cue warp, joint lifted at least 1/8 of an inch about 2 days after I arrived. After being home a few weeks the cue was perfect again. Predator started the laminated shafts to reduce bending but ive seen some really far out Predator shafts, probably the main reason they went to carbon fiber.
