Product Ideas

Years ago, I used to be into GTOs. I had three different GTOs, a '66, '68, and a '69, but my favorite one was the '68 Goat, a convertible, with a Hurst 4-speed, Craiger hubcaps, and Gabriel hijackers in the back. That car could fly!

Somebody made me a 9-ball gear shift handle out of a genuine 9-ball. I thought that was pretty cool.

With old pool balls, there must be something, a product one could come up with that would make ues of these.

"Three deuces and a 4-speed and a 389."

Loved my "Little GTO." :grin-square:

Or, make out of leather a small bag type w logo and have it cover the shift knob.

+1 on the bridge head idea. Especially if you came up with a way for one of these to attach securely and safely to a variety of shaft diameters, without the problem of thinner shafts sticking out several inches in front of the bridge.

FYI....I had already discussed a bridgehead design with John a few years ago now.

My case is sort of weird to most people but I took some extra deer leather and customized a cue extension so that it kind of looks at home with my case. Could be an idea, since most of your cases are higher end creations, to offer custom sheathed extensions if you find a brand you like.

I like the JB case, but the cue extension and attachment look out of place.

I second, third or fourth the coaster Idea. I would buy 2 or 3 immediately if they were reasonably priced and billiards related.

I needed an extension and the case pockets are too small and no other room for it so I made the most from what I had. The whole thing resembles me and your "out of place" statement fits me perfectly as well. Good thing about it all is that it is mine and noone out there could pass it off as theirs if I "lost" it.

I keep quarters in an old Kodak film canister but would buy a leather canister if one were available. The canister I have fits nicely into the side pocket of my case. It would also be good to have a small storage case for a few pieces of chalk. Put it all in one package and it would be a small case organizer that is easily picked up and used to dispense quarters as needed.

The case I have is not quite big enough to store the butt of my custom made jump cue. A short case extension that could attach at both ends so it doesn't dangle would be useful.

I usually buy a case that is deep enough to hold my longer shafts. Then I have to make plugs to shorten the depth of the other holes for some of the other butts and shafts. Stackable plugs made of leather would be useful as they would cushion the shafts and butts better than the old cut up cue sticks I use now.

Not sure how to do this one in leather but here is the problem. I have relatively short fingers and think that there should be a way to come up with finger tip extensions that will allow me to form a bridge in the middle of the table for jump shots. Something like the guitar picks that are attached to the finger.

Makes it easy to store and find quarters when needed for the bar tables.

That is a great idea. That actually would come in handy for tolls when driving, laundromats, parking meters. :)

product ideas for you

how about cube chalk holders? i make mine out of leather, add some beads, attach it to a retractable with a carabina style clip ( like a lighter leash) and always have a decent cube of my brand of chalk attached to my jeans belt loop! only takes 4 inch by2 inch scrap of leather, i spell my name out on it in alphabet beads, very cool stuff!!

Here's a new thought...

How about...

A magic rack "scroll" type of rack holder, so that, you'll roll up the magic rack into it (snap it closed)...and then attach to a "D" ring... on your case...???

Jb cases branded can coozies... It could even use an ultrapad lining inside. Folds flat for easy in-case storage, and you could probably use them as a demo show item.

John, I have a 1x2 It's George. If you could come up with a quality made 16" pocket to add on to it, you would probably make me and at least a few other people happy. The trick would be the design of the attachment in that I wouldn't want to modify my case, but I would want it to be secure and look like it belonged there.

I have a continuous supply of scrap leather. What sorts of neat pool doodads can you think of to make with it.

Burnishers.
Cue Holders.
Ball Markers.
Pocket Markers.
Key Chains.
Case Luggage Tags.

What else can you think of?

John you are truly a creative person!
how about....

ball carrying cases, use the rack as a pattern, put a long zipper, add 2 short carring straps, pocktet on outside for the cue basll, tool them to match the cases you make!
line with egg crate foam, pointed side up, some metal purse feet on the bottom and wha la!
instant hit!

That's a great idea. Will have to try that one. I have been shorthanded for a while and unable to try out a lot of the great ideas in this thread but now I am getting off the computer and more hands-on in the shop so I can create more of these things and finish the ones I have already started.

Thanks!!!

He should just make the world's thickest magic rack out of leather. Attach it your case when done using.
"Did you see that thing roll off when it hit the rack??"
