Has anyone considered a product review sub forum? I mean no insult but perhaps a sub forum for all these my product is the best in the world threads and posts would allow those interested in them to go read them and us folks who are not interested to well...not have to wade thru them...

I mean i enjoy reading the cue makers forums...but only certain times and i probably wouldn't come as often here if it was subdivided as much as it is.

No insult to anyone but just a suggestion to the PTB (powers that be)

Read on!

Seek and ye shall find. :shocked2:
It is right below Ask the Cuemaker.

Thanks...I actually had not seen it.

Then my next question would be why are all these posts cloggin up the main forum?

Reveiw by the maker or seller of said product is not allowed is one of the factors.

They are clogging up the main forum because people don't know about the product review section.

I think that Mike needs a volunteer to police the main forum and move the review threads to the review section.

Maybe even move the subforum higher in the list ..like I said I never noticed it before...

The moderator of the Product Review Forum has tossed several product reviews out of there and into the main forum. The guidelines are very strict, and if they are not followed the post(s) will be moved.

Hate to disagree with you David but the rules are clear about what a product review is. It's not an ad or a request for reviews or a for sale post.

I just wish that we could somehow go through the forum and move the really good reviews that have been posted in other places into the product review section.

Disagree about what?

Who posted an ad or a request for reviews? It wasn't me. I'm very clear about what the policy is.

Another thing is there is a review section, and gallery section that gets traffic, but people in the main forum don't pay much attention to the other forums. I rarely read the main forum and stay in the cue's sub forums. I never look at the review forums, because they get no traffic and have such stringent rules that it isn't any fun to use.

Cue Gallery, and Cue Review sections under the cues subsection do get plenty of traffic and you can find most anything in them.

As the moderator of the review subforum, I too wish it were higher in the list, but I don't have control over that.
As far as the rules... I made them very specific because I saw what a mess the original cue review section was with so many people "requesting" reviews that there were more requests than actual reviews.

Also, I see way too many advertising threads in the main forum so I made sure no one could advertise there either.

Any input is welcome...

About you saying that reviews had been moved out of the review section. I don't think that any reviews have been moved but certainly a few ads and a few requests for review have been moved.

What is the purpose of a review forum? There is a forum for some reviews now. Hardly anyone uses it. There is a cue review forum. Heaven forbid if someone gives a negative review or comment. Then again most times a negative is nothing more than someone wanting to slam something because they want something for nothing and the whole story is not known.

I made a comment about not seeing the need for something and got a rather nasty email from the author wanting me to retract the thread because I had no right to critize and possibly ruin his sales. He also said that I should not have posted anything negative even though he asked for opinions.

I'm wondering where THIS thread should have been posted? It's getting really confusing as to what should or should not be posted in the main forum anymore. And the rules in some of these sub forums make them very uninviting. They remind me of homeowners who make everyone take their shoes off at the door, won't let them sit on uncovered furniture, and give them nasty looks if they ask to use the restroom; and then wonder why no one ever wants to come and visit.
