I am so blown away from this cue, that I have to share my story.

a few weeks ago, i purchased from kevin, a varney J/B cue. nothing fancy. a sneaky with a phenolic tip. as many of you know, i have been buying and selling low to very high end cues for years. have have seen and tried EVERYTHING on the planet. every maker, tip, shaft, joint, ect. BAR NONE, the best jump/break cue, hands down. 2nd place isn't even close. this cue has given me the game to be at least a ball better or more easy. i have been playing pool most of my life. at my age (35) and my speed (low A), big gains in your game come very slow. to have this simple cue do SO much is just incredible.

i have never bought a cue from him before.
i don't know him.
i bought one cause i have heard nothing but rave reviews.
i had to try one for myself.

you should try one too.........

i'm so glad i did :)

Welcome to the club bogey.

A month or so ago I sent mine back to Kevin for some touch up and butt cap work and had withdrawls because I didn't have my J/B LOL :D

what is so good about it;the breaking or jumping?i have an x-breaker and as far as i can tell nothing(i have tried them all) jumps better b/c their tip puts more spin than phenolic or g-10,but i have used better break cues and am always looking for the Holy Grail of J/B's.

i tried 2 x-breakers.

the varney hits much more solid, and i can park the cueball on most breaks, with more control. the x-breaker did jump well, but the varney is it's equal there.

i have never come out in public like this about the playability of a cue before.
after trying this, i felt i had to.

hope you try one mason.

AS HARD AS A 10 YEAR OLD GIRL NOW? :) AT LEAST YOUR MOVIN UP. YOU'D NEED TO BREAK WITH A SHOT GUN TO HAVE ANY POWER:p :p

P.S. I HOPE EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT I'M JUST BUSTING CHOPS. CHRIS ACTUALLY BREAKS A LITTLE HARDER THAN THE 100 POUNLD GIRL THAT WORKS IN MY ROOM:cool:

Chris are you a good breaker/player?seriously I don't know how you play and it does make a difference in my decision.i see everybody bustin you balls here, but i don't know how well you play.sounds like you are a player and they are messing with you.is the Varney tip/ferrule setup phenolic or G-10 or what?no way can phenolic spin the cue ball on jump shots like G-10 or the X-Breaker tip.it just won't.

The line on "cheese" is that he dabs em pretty sporty----esp for a workin dude.:)

On the occasions he's described a cues playing charcteristics it's been on target.

I'm sorry mason but I think you are wrong... with the phenolic you can spin the ball.. I've a sledgehammer first edition and not only can do masse jumps but play and do masse shots with it... I just have to be a little more careful in not going too extreme on the cueball...

he puts grooves in the tip of the phenolic.
helps with the chalk, and the spin of the ball a ton.
the x-breaker tip is harder than phenolic, and they also put grooves in their tips, and i think thats why they grab some too.

I had to stop playing with it cause it was getting hard to see:confused:

sounds pretty good.veislide81,i did not say it was impossible to spin the ball.i said that it couldn't spin the ball as much as the X-Breaker,but i would sacrifice a little spin for a great breaker.i have deifinitely had better breaking cues than the X-Breaker,just not better jumping ones.

the varney is it's equal jumping.
the nice thing about the varney, is that the jump handle is longer than 98% of jump cues out there. omen is the only one that comes to mind.
gives you better leverage being longer, especially when you need the rock in the air quick.
