Professional Billiards Coverage

I just sent in this complaint to ESPN.

"To Whom It May Concern:

With all of the resources available to ESPN, I am appalled and disappointed at the lack of coverage regarding Professional Billiards as a whole.

There are less than a handful of events that are tape delayed on ESPN Networks and there is NEVER any mention of Professional Billiards on a SportsCenter telecast. There is a MASSIVE event in the Billiards World currently taking place in Las Vegas: The Mosconi Cup XX (as in 20). This is an annual event pitting the best players of Europe against the best players in the US. It shocking that this event has been going on for 20 years and has never made a blip on ESPN. Other events such as the US Open and Derby City Classic should also receive National recognition on the "Leader in Sports".

I know this is probably falling on deaf ears, but I think Professional Billiards deserves a place among the other stick and ball games featured on your networks. This, coming from a HUGE baseball and football fan.

Maybe if enough of us submit like minded feedback, we may be able to prove there is a market for Pro Pool on TV. I'm not sure if it will make a difference, but it is worth a shot. Click on the link below to submit your complaint.

I was thinking something similar about Sports Center a couple days ago. What a difference it could/would make just to get mentions in the mainstream sports media coverage. At this time, we must to do it all ourselves.

Edit: Apparently Jeanette's HOF induction got a mention recently on Sports Center. Still nothing about the game or actual competition.

How many times have we heard while watching the MC "sorry for the language"? Maybe they don't want to take the chance. Doesn't bother me but no one wants to broadcast anything these days with the FBOMB being tossed around.

They don't have to mic the players.

For sure, you got a point there. :o
 
True but that's part of what helps make viewing interesting. It's not just players and a table. It's the interaction between players. I think it adds a little more to the broadcast to hear the players.

Other sports don't do it and I assume it's because of the language. I don't think it would deter people from watching if the players weren't mic'd.
 
If we all did this ... every 3 months, we might make a dent in their decision making progress. :/

They don't have to make it 100% live ... I'd imagine most live sports have at least a 5 second delay for exactly those cases. Even radio programs do that now. Keep 'em mic'd and just bleep them once in a while.
 
I was watching SC a few days before the Mosconi Cup was to begin and they announced Janette Lee's entrance into the Hall of Fame but couldn't take the time to mention an international event. I think Janette Lee is great and she should be recognized but at least tell people about the greatest tournament in pool. SMH
