Could anyone recommend a good intermediate/advanced training camp or coach? I'm thinking of taking a vacation and want to spend 3-5 days working on improving consistency and shot selection in my game.

Two Words ..... SCOTT LEE !:)

Have you or anyone else personally received coaching from Scott?

I would say that I am of intermediate to advanced level, I basically just need someone to objectively point out and make me aware of inconsistencies that may have crept into my stroke, also my shot selection in certain situations needs some work. I'm not looking for a beginners approach, I feel that I just need someone experienced and respected to be able to objectively look at my game and give me their thoughts.

It depends whee you are planning on traveling to in the U.S. - if you go to Texas, then Randy Goettlicher would be the man. If you were in Kentucky, I would recommend Stan Shuffet. If you come to Florida there are many people to choose from, I am located in the Orlando area. I have sat in and watched Scott Lee's instruction, and he is definitely one of the best, and his sessions are conducted professionally.

cumisk,
This subject has come up often, the answers are always the same. Instructors like Mark Wilson (Collinsville, IL near St. Louis), Jerry Briesath (Wisconsin in the summer, Arizona in the winter), RandyG (Texas), & Scott Lee (Michigan, but travels all over) are definitely the cream of the crop. Many professional level players seek advice from these guru's; and many inexperienced players are helped immensely.

My personal experience has been with Mark Wilson & Jerry Briesath - these guys are fabulous; and any player who follows their advice will benefit. My game has progressed by leaps and bounds working with them.

Here are 2 threads detailing my experiences with Mark Wilson:

Good luck.

P.S. - there are some pics of the Bullpen in the second thread if you read far enough.

JOHN SCHMIDT & TONY CROSBY come to mind.

If you pass by New Orleans, stop in at Buffalo Billiards to receive or give a lesson or two; maybe just a beer.

Any good instructor (most definitely including Scott Lee) will see what you're already doing well and go from there; anyone who gives a beginner's lesson to a strong player would not have achieved Scott's pristine reputation.

I had a lesson with Scott in March, and I think it was extremely worthwhile. I didn't need a lot in the way of mechanical adjustments, so he focused on showing me practice/training methods I could use to teach myself habits that would lead to maximum consistency, and explaining what function these habits serve and why I should do things a certain way. The way he presented the information allows me to make better-informed adjustments to my game on my own, because I know the reasons behind the suggestions he made.

Blackjack,

Thanks for the recommendation. Also, Landon joins me in thanking you for your interest in his matches last May in Jacksonville.

Stan Shuffett

Not really sure about alot of the others mentioned, but Stan Shuffet does seem to be a great instructor. He and Landon came to Athens, GA. a few times for tournies when Landon was around 7 yrs old and his progress/ success are continuing to grow. Stan definitely knows how to teach the game and his son is living proof.

OMG Petey Margo!

Stan Shuffet and Jerry Briesath

Depending on the area of the country your in, I would definitely suggest Stan Shuffet in Kentucky or Jerry Briesath in Wisconsin. Not only knowledgable and talented, they are both quality people.

I know they have already been mentioned, but I guess I will second the motion. Can't beat either one of them.
