Proof that Pool is Not for Women

I looked at the game videos/DVDs offered by Accu-Stats in their 2015 catalog. After going through their catalog a few times I noticed there wasn't one match, not one single match, between female players. What's going on? What am I missing?

You're missing a valid point that pool isn't for women.

A lot of women's pool in on TV. Could be someone else owns the rights

Accu-Stats doesn't film the WPBA events, what few there have been the past few years. What other women's pro events are there here in the US. I guess there is that small one held side by side with the men at the Philly Expo but Accu-Stats doesn't do that event either.

However, for their upcoming event you will be able to watch the final three matches live on ESPN3 on Feb 8.

For some reason I seem to recall something about WPBA players not being allowed on streams/telecasts outside of WPBA events for a while. Anyone recall this?

As for Accustats, they have archives of events they've covered. While some women do enter some events, like the US Open for example, the odds of a draw between two notable (stream worthy) women in events like this are probably far and few between. And if it is later in the tournament, there may be a better match to put on the stream table. It's not like they film every match.

I've done extensive research that somewhat relates to the point that the OP is attempting to make. I don't think that it is so much that pool is not for women as it is that most women don't do as well in head to head competitions as men. I'm don't want to come off as misogynistic, but there have been countless studies that prove men are better at competing at things that don't inherently favor one sex over the other. Whether it be pool, chess, poker, trivia questions, etc. Simply competing head to head usually favors the male competitor (usually, definitely not always).

Men and women just have different traits and characteristics.

Just not a lot of women play pool. A very small percentage of "serious" players are women. Women are capable of playing with the men, nothing holds them back other than numbers. Very few people on earth become top level players. Odds are in favor a man becoming a top player because the game is mostly played by men.

No reason women can't complete with men in pool games. Their one weakness might be 8, 10, and rotation because of break strength. Nine ball should be no problem. Women just don't apply themselves enough to practice it's evident. The Asian female players are great pouters. Allison Fisher in her prime could at least give men a run for their $$ in 9 ball. Great shot planner, shot maker and thinker.

I agree

Also, many more men have played pool historically speaking; I certainly don't agree that Pool is not for Women; I used to think that a woman couldn't beat a man playing pool (all things being equal); but that kind of thinking went by the wayside many years ago....Competitively speaking, maybe men do have an edge because they have historically been more aggressive, offensive, and maybe an attacking/confrontational nature since humans lived in caves..

Another point is that (again historically speaking), back in the old days, women were not expected to hang out in pool rooms; it was a "man's domain".....and as we know, not exactly a respected pastime.....
There is that stigma tied to why women did not get into pool playing....

One thing that pool is missing is the women. You get the women involved and the men will show up. So maybe our brand is a little tainted. We could change some modification and still be top competitors.

Women, yes!

I totally agree. Women players have been steadily closing the gap between their level of play and that of men for some time.

One factor that is ignored is that proving "superiority" over others seems to be more important to men than women.

And most men still believe that women are inherently inferior to men.

Even some who don't, talk about women's "weak" breaks. A powerful break has much more to do with technique than physical strength. Watch Pan Xiaoting (or as Americans tend to call her "Xiao Ting Pan") break. And I doubt she ways more than 100 pounds.

In my pool room there are actually quite a few women players, although I agree that there are very few good players vs how many men players are pro, A and B players.

Plenty of women and kids hanging out playing pool. My son is in the Metallica T shirt, he's about 2 feet taller now LOL.

I think it depends on the area and the room. There is a womens only USAPL league out of my home room and many of the women also play in the regular leagues.

Didn't they say something similar about women's tennis years ago
But look how popular it is now

I am seriously how many people watching actually follow their technical skills and how strong they play. I know many watch their wardrobe, shapes, movements, struts and poses
For most of the noob spectators, the women's skills are pretty high for them anyway :D

Short skirts, bouncing around and grunting, what's not to like?
I don't remember a lot of women's pro matches but I do remember the time some girl was playing a few tables from me in a short skirt and did not seem to mind that her underwear was in full view when she bent over.

Men's pool is for men, but Women's pool is also for men :)

I can beat that story!

A few years back I saw a young woman playing in a mini mini skirt and NO underwear. As I remember, nobody complained!

I regularly get my butt kicked in pool by a girl. You get used to it after awhile.

I have seen a few good women's pool matches on YouTube but there definitely seem to be less out there than the men's matches across the board.

Some of that may be impacted by the absence of role models. I didn't see a lot of women playing golf before some women like Nancy Lopez started getting more time on ESPN.

The fact is that most of the top female players would also enjoy that. Pool in that regard is really well represented by both sexes.
