propeller DXF

Do you realize that to draw a propeller, you only need to plot 5 points?

Print out a propeller that you like, measure the length and width with your calipers. Plot a fifth point in the center. Now connect all the points to the center with filets until the radius looks like you want it.

Next do a filet with the radius you want for the center where each wing meets and you're done. If you're using a .0313 cutter, do a .0156 fillet where each wing meets. I usually make mine with a radius of .005, but then the centers are very weak and it takes a few other tricks to get them into the cue.

It only takes two or three minutes. The testing is what takes all of the time.

I am sorry i asked for a dxf.it won't happen again.

I told you how to draw it. That should be more valuable than just copying a file.

Perhaps you would like somebody to build your cues for you too.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but you are asking for one of the most basic shapes there are.

Here is a photo illustration.

The first photo has the 5 points plotted.

001.jpg

Then (if you're using Bobcad), select Arc > Filet from the Menu at the top

002.jpg

Choose your radius and connect the top and bottom points to the center. You might have to play around to find the radius you want to use.

003.jpg

Change the Radius to connect the Left and Right Points to the Center

004.jpg

Change your radius to the radius of the cutter you are going to use for your clean up pass. Connect the Tops to the sides. This will create a radius and remove the excess in the center.

006.jpg

Remove the points you drew at the beginning and you are done, unless you want to radius the tops and sides.

I tried to rep you for the post, but I've got to spread it around first. Good of you to share, Tony.

Thank you,

~Beau

Tony,

Can you make the little wings a little fatter, they are to skinny. I mean if you're going to draw it for him, at least do it right. :)

Thanks for that correction. See you at SBE.

Now that I learned how to do a screen shot I am going to be a nightmare... :)

You took the words right out of my mouth Tony. But in all fairness, he did state for the record "lazy cad operator"
That's the problem with the internet and certain types of people, they want it spoon fed and delivered so they can look like a cuemaker................
The old saying, (not word for word) you can give a man a fish for the day, or you can teach a man how to fish and he'll live a lifetime, something like that..
Kudos, and Greenies, for you Tony for showing him and the rest of us. He may not appreciate it, but I do and I know others do also.

Maybe you could find some little ivory colored propellor stickers.

Looks like there's a new market...next thing u know somebody will be selling code for basic shapes

Actually Dave, its, give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Or something like that.

Give a man a fish he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, well you get the rest.

Don't you mean more of a nightmare.

Just came across a great piece of free cad software.
http://www.3ds.com/products/draftsight/download-draftsight/?xtor=SEC-6-GOO-[]-[]-S-[draft%20sight]
From the makers of solidworks, I just started playing with it, but it's supposed to be the nuts for manipulating fonts.

If I hadn't lost my bobcad in a drive crash I would have. :)

Here are a few blades/crosses/axes I was working on....

And for the record we can add no cuemaking and no cue selling cuemaker.
