I've accumulated a nice little stash of tips in the last while just for my own purposes of trying different ones out.
What is the average life expectancy of a tip left in the original box.
What do you guys use to safely store unused tips. Tupperware etc?
What is the life expectancy of a properly stored box of tips?
I have a cheap vacuum canister with an attachment to suck the air out of it.
Would this be a proper way of storage?
 
Tupperware will be fine. So long as they are not exposed to the elements, they'll last virtually forever. Baseball gloves from the 20's are still in good shape. Saddles from 150yrs. ago are still good. Tips will be no different. I have bought old boxes of tips from ebay & they are always fine. Don't stress it.
 
Thanks, there was a comment on a thread today mentioning tips going bad so thought I'd ask. I've wondered about the vintage tips on EBay. Now I can bid and not worry, altho the ones I did bid on were mainly for the boxes anyway.
 
Zip loc bags are a safe bet and keep them out of the light. How are the Super Pro Tips doing up there in Canada?
 
I too use ziplock bags they're cheap and they do a good job. I'm just too cheap and lazy to put them in tupperware containers.

Lowes or Home Depot have plastic parts boxes cheeeeeep (roughly 1 foot square). They have plastic inserts that allow for separation of pieces. Put a tag in the bottom of each well created with the tip name and hardness to keep the tips organized. Folding and locking lid included. Great for traveling. You can put in pieces of sandpaper, scuffers, ferrules and other small items, too.

The Super Pros haven't caught on in my neck of the woods yet. I bought a box from a fellow AZer so looking forward to trying them out.
 
I use a flat tackle box from Wal-Mart with a clear top so I can label the different compartments. I don't know that it's the best way, but I've never had any issues with it.
